A guide to the lazy Q’s beat down

All Harrisburg Backblasts

July 27th, 2017 By Bull2

17 answered the call this AM.  Some requiring special, early AM texts, but most were there on their own free will.

In all honesty, Thursdays are one of the toughest workouts to make for YHC.  By this time in the week, YHC is pretty much spent. It might be the heat, work/life stress, the alignment of the planets, whatever…all I know is that the beeping of the alarm at o-dark early is not a welcome noise. There is no snooze button…and I try to get to it as quickly as possible so the M doesn’t wake up and give me some flack about the ruckus. Even though it is early, YHC is thankful that he doesn’t have to get up as early as some others. I know one pour soul, who should remain nameless, that probably has to wake up at 3:30AM just to have enough time to ‘drain the tank ‘and catch up on all the twitter action that occurred in the past 6 hours #multitasker. If I were @Hootie, I would have go to bed at like 6:30 in the evening just to have a chance. Then there is this other poor guy, who should also remain anonymous, that feels it necessary to hit the snooze button at least 27 times before he can roll his a$$ out of bed….it is like an OCD thing for @Naughty, but he is only in bed for like two hours before he starts the snooze process. Enough about my boyz.

We had some pretty good numbers there this AM, and YHC appreciates everybody that overcame the odds and made it out. For each of you that were there, there was somebody that was not. I’ll just name a few for now, but it is a good reminder that we can always ‘help’ each other answer the call:

@Gamma – I am beginning to think he has an aversion to the workouts that I lead. I am sure that he has an awesome reason like staying up late binge watching The Bachelorette or something, so I will let him slide

@Clueless – He is like a mainstay at #TheRidge. At one time, YHC even thought that he slept under the bleachers or something just to be sure that he didn’t miss a workout. I am pretty sure that he was off somewhere this morning learning to swim and ride a bike #SummerCamp

@Burvegas – He also has an aversion to workouts that I lead. He also has a hard time with the alarm routine – usually skating into the parking lot on two wheels at 5:32…Is that bridge over the railroad tracks still out?

Anyway…YHC really had no plan for this workout. Nobody was signed up to take it as of 8:00AM yesterday, so I snagged it and figured I would come up with something. Around 5:32, I still had nothing, so I had to resort to the Lazy Q’s Guide:

Here is the easiest recipe for a work out….Run around and do stuff (and things). It is that simple.

For those that want to make it a little more complicated, you could do this:

Step 1: Warm up

Step 2: Exercises and stuff

Step 3: Run a little

Step 4: Exercises and a little more stuff

Step 5: Run a little more

Rinse and Repeat as time allows

A lot of times, it is easiest if the running is point to point, but ending where you started. This also makes it easy to run back ‘against the grain’ and pick up the six as necessary – keeping the group together for the most part. The above recipe is highly proprietary information, YHC would appreciate if you keep it on the down-low right now. There are a lot of gyms, cross-fitters, and personal trainers that would have my a$$ if they knew that YHC was giving away this kind of information.

Here is what we did:

Warm Up:

Mosey to

SSH x 15

Merkins x 10

IST x 12

Mosey to the NW corner of the parking lot (near the entrance to the baseball field):

Exercise: 20 Merkins, 20 Reverse Crunches, 20 Diamond Merkins, 20 Jump Squats, 20 Wide Merkins.

Run to the stop sign at Raging Ridge Road.

Exercise: 20 Merkins, 20 Reverse Crunches, 20 Diamond Merkins, 20 Jump Squats, 20 Wide Merkins.

Run to the High School sign.

Exercise: 20 Merkins, 20 Reverse Crunches, 20 Diamond Merkins, 20 Jump Squats, 20 Wide Merkins.

Run to the Northeast corner of the bus lot.

Exercise: 20 Merkins, 20 Reverse Crunches, 20 Diamond Merkins, 20 Jump Squats, 20 Wide Merkins.

Run back to the NW corner of the parking lot…if you finish early, circle back and pick up the six.

Repeat the circuit above, reducing the repetitions from 20 to 15.

Most made it back to the HS sign on the 2nd lap when time was called.

Mary:

Low Dolly x 15

Low Flutter x 15

J-Lo x 15

Announcements:

  1. We are looking to get a new Q for every workout in August. Go ahead and get your slot now. I bet we can’t get it filled up by August 1st.
  2. I don’t think there was anything else, but if there was I didn’t get it….I was toast.

  1. You only make it look easy brother…that was brutal.

Thanks for stepping up to lead.

  2. Great write up.

I honestly did not think that Bull could get “spent”.

I counted 270 pushups of some sort from myself. And that was switching everything from 20 to 10 at the 3rd corner.

Thank you for leading and helping us push ourselves.

  3. Good lead Bull. It looked like you were creating those exercises on the fly. “3 different types of Merkins … sounds about right”. The burpee mile is another “complicated” one. It’s so hard to create a good workout, luckily we’re so “smart”.

Good work today by @Fig and @TeenSpirit. T-claps for doing it right.

  4. Guilty on the camp activities… almost ready to remove the floaties… Hate i missed a Merkin Fest though.
