Touchdown Beatdown 2 Year Anniversary

All All MECA Backblasts

July 11th, 2017 By Alcatraz

28 men rolled into the gloom for another installment of the Touchdown Beatdown.  Hard to believe two years has gone by since the first time this was run back in July 2015.  That first group had no war paint, no water bottles (YHC grabbed cans from the church’s food pantry to hold down the sheets – and they were returned to the food pantry) and no playlist.  With @Google’s early arrival, shovel flag planted, war paint applied to the majority of the PAX, FNG welcomed and disclaimer given a mosey began to…

WARMARAMA:

After YHC made sure @PrinceCharming knew 50 Cent’s In da Club lyrics are best understood in the context of marriage, the specifics of the Touchdown Beatdown were given and the PAX lined up waiting for the docile tones of Drowning Pool to serve as the starting gun.

The Touchdown Beatdown has a marked football field across the bus parking lot with the number of reps corresponding to the yard markers.

When the PAX had sweated most of the war paint off their face, the Hallelujah Chorus mercifully signaled the end.  Finishing distances were recorded, water bottles distributed and a mosey began to…

MARY:

COT and BOM!

THE WAR PAINT MOLESKIN:

  1. Great work today men!  Lots of sweat angels after MARY.  YHC thought sweat drops of blood were falling at one point.  Thankfully, it was just the red war paint.  This ordained minister will be the first to admit sweat drops of blood are way above his pay grade.
  2. Finishing distance will be posted in a separate backblast later today.
  3. Welcome @Leatherneck!  Had there been some hesitation on @BloodSport’s naming your fate would have been much like the Marine near Raleigh who was named @AirForce, but you would have received the moniker @CoastGuard!
  4. The football was once again signed by @Thorn.  Always impressive to be lapped a couple times by you.
  5. After 4 rounds, @Glock was seen wandering aimlessly through the course.  He looked dazed and confused.  Not sure what happened, but it created some #mumblechatter at his expense.
  6. Thanks to @DropCloth for being the designated counter as the rest of us listened to @TheNanny explain the continuing saga with the sale of his house. 1st F created 2nd F and the PAX is challenged to participate in some 3rd F by asking for smooth sailing going forward from the One who gives good gifts!  No worries, @TheNanny isn’t leaving us, just relocating in the hood.
  7. YHC apologizes for the weak showing on behalf of the playlist.  In an attempt not to make another appearance on the Highland Creek’s Next Door website, the pendulum sung too far the other way.  The amplified speaker will return to the gloom!  And @TheNanny will have executive authority on the volume level.
  8. The 2 year anniversary of @Skywalker is Friday.  One would anticipate some Chicken Foot on the menu, so show up and support the brothers there.
  9. Thank you for participating in the last time YHC leads you in this version of the Touchdown Beatdown for a while.  Touchdown Beatdown 2.0 will make its debut on Halloween.  Be afraid, be very afraid!
  10. Sound off in the comments below for any comments or corrections.

Always an honor to lead the PAX!

  1. Well done as always @Alcatraz. I can’t say that I’m really sorry to say goodbye to the TDBD but I secretly always look forward to it. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us on October 31. Hopefully there will be lots of face paint.

    1. I will restock as soon as Walmart sets up its Halloween costume section. That will probably be next Friday followed by Christmas decorations two weeks later.
