Merry Muggy Monday Morning

All All MECA Backblasts

June 19th, 2017 By Pleasure

Yeah, it was pretty muggy outside from the copious amounts of rain the night before. But five men posted in the gloom for The Valley’s Velocity training – this week being hills.

@Brutus, @Dingo, and @Gentle Grizzly all ran to Corvian Community School and put in an extra two-ish miles doing so.

The official route was up David Taylor, left onto Governor Hunt, right onto Mallard Creek, left onto Silver Birch, over to the Hill of Shadows, up, back down, repeato, and back via Governor Hunt, David Taylor. At some point, @Gentle Grizzly and @Dingo made a detour to “go to the gas station…” and caught up with the rest of the PAX at Mallard Creek Elementary (thus effectively avoiding the dreaded Hill of Shadows). The PAX was so speedy this morning (no one averaged much over 8 1/2 min./mile), that the route was modified to run to the end of David Taylor and back on the Mallard Creek Greenway cut-through, to round out the time.

The route totaled 400+ feet of elevation gain over 5 miles after the modification. Good work by all. ‘Twas a pleasure, as always.

  1. Good route @Pleasure! I did accompany GG to the gas station, however I continued running while he was taking care of business. You see, I had already taken care of business coming down David Taylor on the pre-run. Thank goodness for Tulip trees having such large leaves!

I did think we would get to do one trip up SRR, but i was wrong. I’m not that disappointed……

    1. Yes, thank God for tulip trees… Ha!

I’m sure there will be plenty more opportunities over the coming months to make a trip (or three, apparently) up Senator Royal.

  2. Good route Pleasure!
