KT5K Copperplate Climb

All All MECA Backblasts

May 31st, 2017 By Man Down

With just a few more days left before the King Tiger 5K, I thought we’d tackle the most difficult part of the race – the dreaded 1/2-mile Copperplate Climb at the 2.2 mile mark. It’s only about a 2% average grade and a 50-foot elevation difference, but it feels like SO much more when you’re trying to push your 5K time! Since The Valley meets down at Corvian, we had to make the trek up a much more monstrous hill in order to even get to Copperplate. Senator Royall‘s 0.8-mile distance, 4% average grade, and 150-foot elevation climb got the legs burning fast!

HERE is the route we ran, beautifully displayed on a high-def, interactive map. Or, if you are like Dingo and prefer low-tech, static mapsĀ and can only visualize a route using Footpath, HERE is that version (compliments of Gentle Grizzly because Dingo was too low tech to even create his own).

T-Claps to the 9 other men who joined me this morning!
