Frogs In Heat

All All MECA Backblasts

May 30th, 2017 By Alcatraz

A group of 18 men gathered in the humid gloom to the docile sounds reverberating from the runoff pond below the parking lot.  Curious minds pondered the great question of the morning – “What is making that noise?”  Without excessive banter and repartee, the PAX accepted the hypothesis of some sort of amphibious creature.  Someone who may have more insight than YHC offered further clarification that it was frogs in heat.  Not sure what experience created that life lesson, but it was not the time for freaky frog stories.  So with shovel flag planted, disclaimer given a mosey began down the parking lot.

With many of the PAX surprised by not circling up for WARMARAMA, a line formed against the curb.  YHC was in Raleigh last month and posted at the Green Flash AO.  What was to follow was inspired by that morning with those F3 Raleigh brothers.  And the PAX jumped right into…

THE THANG:

The PAX rotated through the following exercises starting with a set of 8.

It should be noted that other than the normal calling of cadence for the Muhammad Ali, every other exercise was single count.  YHC struggled at various points during the morning to remember to call either “down” or “up” as well as keeping the exercises at multiples of 8.  Attempting to apply vocal inflection to one syllable sometimes sounded as if the voice cracking during puberty was back.

Indian run up the hill and around the corner towards the back of the baseball fields for a set of 16.

Indian run towards Ridge Road for a set of 24.

Indian run turning onto Ridge Road for another set of 24.  The original plan was to have a set of 32 at this location, but time was ticking away.  Furthermore, the combination of YHC’s 1/8th of a ton frame, high humidity and the Memorial Day cookout that was coupled with gluttony (#confession) was taking its toll.  If someone in the PAX felt cheated, feel free to do a set of 32 on your own sometime today.

Indian run turning at the fire station and stopping for a set of 16.

Indian run turning into the bus parking lot for the last set of 8.

It is possible that @#1 was on some amphibious aphrodisiac as he was feeling froggy enough to jump a bush which was matched by @Pavarotti on the mosey back to…

MARY:

COT and BOM!

THE AMPHIBIOUS MOLESKIN:

  1. Great work today men!  Not much dry space on the the shirts at the end.  YHC thought about locking shields for the prayer, but decided to pass.
  2. Welcome FNG Ryan!  Keep showing up and you will get stronger.  Nice EH by @MinniePearl as well.
  3. It’s after Memorial Day and it is socially acceptable for our M’s to wear flats and @Conchito to wear short sleeves.  More sun = more guns!  He is a walking billboard for the NRA and an individual’s right to carry.  And while we are completely accepting of short sleeve and sleeveless shirts for the PAX, let’s draw a line at the man romper that seems to be making some waves in the fashion world.
  4. Q-School at Highlands on this Thursday, Jun 1.  If you have never led a workout, come learn some of the guiding principles of being a Q.  If you’ve led a workout, but never attended a Q-School, show up and sharpen your skills.  There are lots of reasons behind how things are done at F3 and you should know them!
  5. Red Friday moves to our newest AO – Comanche starting this Friday, June 2.  Come out, work out and honor a soldier and Remember Everyone Deployed!
  6. When you are in another town, find out if they have an F3 workout there.  YHC enjoyed seeing the reach of F3 to another part of the state as well as picked up some different ideas.

Always an honor to lead the PAX!
