1 Year Shenanigans
All All MECA BackblastsJanuary 5th, 2017
10 guys and YHC came out in the sub-freezing temps to see what F3 has taught we in the last year. 9 of us moseyed around the church with high-knees, butt-kickers, and quadraphelia. Circle up in the back parking lot. We were now joined by a couple of runners (or guys that happen to be running today). We did SSH, Cotton Pickers, Tempo Merkins, Tempo Squats. On the call to Partner up, our late arriving rabbits cowered in fear and sprinted to their cars.
Grab 1 tire per team. Partner 1 flips tire while Partner 2 does 10 Walking lunges. Switch and repeat to the next parking island and back. YHC hates lunges, but sees the value, so know them out quick I say.
Put tires aside and do group of 3 exercise with a team count. 78 Merkins, 200 Squats and 300 Plank Jacks. One partners runs around parking islands while other partner does exercise. Those finishing first, help those not still going to finish.
Grab the tires again. Flip to other parking island, while other partner does Reverse Crunches. Leave tire and run back to partner. Switch and flip tire back.
Put the tires back.
Mosey to front portico to introduce our game. Burpee Tag. Partner 1 starts running backwards around church. Partner 2 does 5 burpees and then sprints after Partner 1. Once caught, Partner 1 drops and does 5 burpees and Partner 2 starts running backwards. Do 2 laps around church.
Mosey to a moving mary. Partner 1 does exercise while Partner 2 runs around 3 parking islands. We did LBC’s, Low Flutter and Pretzel Crunches.
Steaming Moleskin
– Thanks for following me around this morning. Hope you got what you were looking for.
– I started my fitness journey in April of 2015 as a 300 pound, Saddest of Clowns. Couldn’t run for more than about 30 seconds without having to stop. Started running with my wife and then found a group of 3 guys that were working out at the Y. I started watching my calorie intake and lost about 65 pounds in 2015. Hit the holidays last year and the group got busy and found my energy level dip, my weight start to creep up and my general attitude declining. Went to an F3 workout on January 2nd and it hit me, “There are guys working out, all over the city, every day of the week and all I have to do is show up?… I was in.” All in all, I am down 78 pounds, I am running 20 miles a week and training for Olympic distance Triathlons, a half marathon, BRR and who knows what else.
– Too many guys are out there alone, trying to do life by themselves, saying they are OK. Guys need to be in community, but few seek it out for whatever reason. If you know a Sad Clown out there make sure they are plugged in somewhere, F3, church group, bible study, whatever. It took 3 years of invites to get me out to F3, so don’t stop asking.
I will step down of the soapbox now … thanks for being out there in the gloom!

Awesome AstroVan! And get back on thy soapbox! You’ve got an inspiring story to tell!
Sorry Bout this morning, not feeling 100%. Felt like my head was dragging on the ground during the pre run…..
“Felt like my head was dragging on the ground during the pre run…” Hmm…. Was Buckwehat dragging you, and this is why you two had this reaction? “On the call to Partner up, our late arriving rabbits cowered in fear and sprinted to their cars.”
Thanks for partnering @Guiness and @AstroVan. For a moment, I half expected you were going to do solo and beast mode us all @Astrovan!
“YHC hates lunges, but sees the value, so know them out quick I say. ”
I used to pretty much say this every time in People’s Q’s. “I hate lunges/Russian Twists/etc so that’s what we’re doing next.”
We just came over to say G’day
Great Beatdown, @AstroVan. Congratulations on your F3 One Year Anniversary. I agree with @Dingo that your story is inspirational. You inspire me. Does this mean we are happy clowns? Thanks for partnering @AstroVan and @KingLouie.
Solid Q Astro. Should have not made that comment about wanting more tire flips. Burpee tag was payback. Onj and I were painfully slow.
Congrats on your anniversary. And great story.
Maybe we should have an inspirational minute once in a while before locking shields. Master q ?
I am all for inspirational moments. Great idea, @Dutch. Henceforth, let it be known that every fourscore and seven days a Q’ith, if they so wish, shall perform an inspirational moment in the COT’eth whence a feeling comes upon them. Say Aye or forever hold your peace!
@dutch just wants and opportunity to say “blah blah squishy blah blah squishy blah blah” 😉
Dingo -The word was muuushy, but now I use the word chiseled. It seems more in line with my physique that I’ve worked on for 2 years. The m just calls me…
I’ll let u know when I q again !
Lol! “Chiseled” hahaha!!
Great beatdown and inspiration @astrovan. Good day to @dingo and @buckwheat. Thx for partnering @blind date – u made our group look good. Burpee tag running backwards was tough!
