MeCa Labor Day Convergence

All All MECA Backblasts

September 5th, 2016 By Gamma

With a 50-year age span, 57 of MeCa’s finest converged at White Lightning to kick off Labor Day. As best I can remember, it went something like this….

Warm-up (Gump has the Q)
Mosey to the center of the lot.
The Burpee
SSHs x10
ISTs x10
Cotton Pickers x10
Mericans x10

Split the group in half…
One group follows Solo Cup to the overpass
10 Burpees at one end, Air Squats at the top, LBCs at the other end
Repeato until time is called

The other group follows Gamma to one of the entrances, pair up
P1 runs up the ramp, touch the fence and back down while P2 does an exercise; continue until each pair finishes:
100 Mericans
200 Air Squats
300 LBCs
Then mosey over the overpass, and the two groups switch and repeat(ish)

Once done, Sugar takes over and leads us back to the middle of the lot. Pair up and line up.
5 PattyCake Sit-ups, run to the opposite light poles, 5 Hand Release Mericans, then back to the middle
Repeat with 10, 15, 10, 5, ignoring Chowder’s “recover” commands

Skipper assumes the lead, takes us back to the cars for Mary (this is where the memory gets fuzzy….or I just wasn’t paying attention)
Makhtar N’Diaye x10
Plank Jacks x15
Stuff
Things
Pretzel Crunches x10
Rosalitas x15
The Squirm x15

1. Great crowd…awesome to see so many old faces and meet some new ones. It’s amazing to see what MeCa has become in the past 4 1/2 years. I think we had at least 9 AOs represented, a 7 year-old War Baby and two 57 year-old War Daddys; fast guys, slow guys and everything in between; different backgrounds, professions, faiths, fitness levels, etc….but all looking forward with the same vision, and looking out for each other. Definitely a special group of which I’m proud to be a part.

2. Thanks to all the Qs, including those who helped with Mary on the fly, and Hot Wheels for taking us out with some strong words.

3. Tclaps to all those who put in some early mileage, as well as Astro Van and Town & Country for biking it to and from the workout.

4. Had to split up for coffeeteria, but sounds like strong numbers at both Rocky River and Dilworth. Best hour of the week!

5. Good luck to all the BRR runners this weekend. I believe MeCa is sending 8 teams with 79 runners

6. If I missed anything, sound off below. For general comments/complaints, see Col Mustard.

Cheers!
