Its workout, not an easyout

All All MECA Backblasts

September 1st, 2016 By Dingo

It was STILL humid when a bunch of men forged a path into the gloom today. Fall is just around the corner and I cannot wait for it to come. I couldn’t find my watch this morning, so I asked Ribshack to be my timekeeper during the workout. Apparently this confused the pax and they thought we would be getting smoked by the rib master. They were wrong.

As we started the mosey, all I could hear behind me was “Oh great Dingo is gonna make us run”. Well, I wasn’t. But I was very happy to change my warm up on the fly to give the crowd what they wanted. 3/4 mile mosey to warm up. At the end of the mosey i am sure i heard Maximus screaming “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!”

Jelly completely failed to get the 6, so a gracious Ribshack rounded them up.

We did a couple warm up exercises, but it was time to get into the real deal. and yes, there is a bit of running involved.

Round 1

12 x push ups
15 x jump Squats
20 x Mtn Climbers
Run lap of Church
Repeat x 3

Round 2

5 x burpees
20 x WWII situps
20 x Lunges
Run Lap of Church
Repeat x 3

Round 3

15 x Squats
20 x Merkins
30 x Reverse crunch
Run Lap of Church
Repeat x 3

Round 4

15 x Squat jumps
20 x plank jacks
20 x Merkins
Run Lap of Church
Repeat x 3

Mosey back to parking lot. Circle up for some stretching and COT.

Impromptu speech from Guinness, may have been inspired by Maximus’ challenge to the crowd earlier in the workout.

Welcome to Blender! Those earphones might be a good idea. Quiet this morning, but this crowd usually gets a lot noisier!

Welcome back Guinness!

Royal – I hope that wasn’t anything serious this morning??

  1. I was the 14th this morning. I want credit for having suffered through that. Nice Q Dingo. Very similar to what I have planned at The Dawg House tomorrow. May rethink that after today.

    1. Sorry bro! You’re on there now

      1. No problem at all. Last Q, I tried to remember everyone and think I missed 4.

  2. I didn’t realize it was 3/4 of a mile around those apartments across the road?

Only time I ever remember running there was when we tried to avoid the ice when doing the Murph…. but instead found the entire lot was nothing BUT ice!
    Good beat down, Dingo.

  3. Good beatdown Dingo. I was wiped toward the end of it, which always sucks while we are out there but feels so good when it is over. For those of you counting (and I did), we ran 2.8 miles today.

Welcome Blender! With that one ear piece in, perhaps we should call you #SecretService.

    Good impromptu speech Guinness.

    1. Dang….so close to 3……

  4. Nice and effective beatdown today dingo! I was finished at the end. I almost fartsacked. Glad I didn’t.

    1. Should have just kept my mouth shut about running.
That dingo is just looking for ways to inflict pain

Anybody have an idea about how to tell your brain to tell your legs to put one foot in front of the other in a rapid forward moving direction? Mine don’t listen!

GUINNESS – that’ll preach brother. U ever think about the ministry?

      1. @Dutch – we do these workouts every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday where ALL we do is practice running. Come join us!

        1. @Dingo Perhaps if you called it Burn Run Camp?

      2. Every day, Dutch, – all of us. 🙂

  5. Great deep down, Dingo. It’s great to be back. Now, I can finally begin to increase my mileage.

    1. “Deep down”?? Thanks…..I think…..

      1. Sorry, Dingo, I meant to say “beatdown” not “deep down” – darn not proof reading after voice to text.

  6. Hip replacement causes pain after about 1/2 mile so not you Dingo. My surgeon has no further treatment so anyone who knows of a good ortho guy let me know – would love to get back into serious running. Love the hard workouts. Will try to do as well when I queue. Any pointers on queuing would be welcomed…

    1. There is an F3 guy called Big Mean who apparently works wonders. I’ll see if i can find out his real name

      1. Big Mean = Bill Meritt @ (980) 721-6419.

@Dingo, are “push-ups” different than merkins?

  7. So – a 3/4 mile unexpected, run off the bat! That’s a warm-up? Most entertaining. Just glad I didn’t know the distance until now.

But thank you @dingo for having myself and some of the other respects held back for lap 3 of each segment. Given that, it was a unique and fun experience to go with @buckwheat to get the 6 rather than be the 6!

And then @guiness – old fire and brimstone himself welcoming thoughts.

    Glad I showed!

    1. Maximus I am learning a lot about running this year and I have learnt it takes me about 3 miles to fully warm up. Our bodies are truly interesting and seeing how far we can push them is an adventure!

  8. @royal – glad to hear you are ok – would be great if you can run more. BTW – it is a Q rather than queue!
