All All MECA Backblasts

July 12th, 2016 By Disaster

Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect word to describe a beatdown that was this well planned and executed. Delightful? Distinctive? Dazzling? I have a feeling that it starts with a ‘D’. Anyway, twenty brave men of MECA showed up in the gloom to endure the “improved” version 2.0 of the F3 Relay Race Extravaganza (yes @Hammer, it is indeed an extravaganza!). Here’s how it all went down.

Warmarama:

The Thang:

The PAX raced across the parking lot and lined up in order of finish to organize teams. This is when things started to unravel. After forming four teams of five men each, the PAX called an audible and talked the Q into forming five teams of four. After this failed to work out, everyone just sort of did their own thing. Here is what the original plan was supposed to look like:

Teams rotate through five pain stations, with runners serving as the timer

Round One

Round Two

Repeato

Eventually everyone appeared to complete all four rounds. Team One (@Glock, @Hammer, @Col Mustard, @Gump, YHC) appeared to be the unofficial winners. @Haskel was a force for Team Five, even though there wasn’t really a Team Five competing, but good job anyway. @Google appeared to have his own team of one, so he awarded himself Team MVP. @Dodger looked like he ran to the rock and back at least nine times, so I guess he should win an award in his own right. Overall the PAX performed admirably despite the confusion. At least no one complained (nor should they in any of the comments included below!)

Finale – mosey over to the Middle School for Peoples Chair with Air Presses X 12 IC. Followed by balls to the wall (or plastic/ledge/chest/chin/grass)

Marry (joined by @El Guapo, @Search & Rescue, and @Fillibuster who were running this AM)

  1. Sorry to everyone about the confusion in today’s beatdown. Normally version ‘2.0’ is supposed to work better than the original, but this version actually seemed to get worse. These things always seem to work better in my head than they do in real life. Clearly I need to simplify my plans next time. Hopefully everyone still got a good workout by the time we finished. Fortunately the heat/humidity wasn’t too bad this morning
  2. Isotope 5 year anniversary is coming up in August. Saturday workout, either August 20 or 27. Expecting around 200 so plan on coming out and supporting our brothers in North Charlotte.
  3. The Shield meets tonight at @Hammer’s house at 8PM. Special guest ‘Q’ is scheduled
  4. F3 event at the Intimidators baseball game tomorrow night. Tickets are still available. Check the backblast.
  5. F3 Dads meets this Saturday at 7PM at Stallings Road Park in Harrisburg. Pancake breakfast to follow. HC if you are planning on attending.
  6. There are still several openings to ‘Q’ in July. The link to the Sign Up Genius is included as part of the daily email update. If you haven’t led yet this is a great opportunity. Clearly it can’t go any worse than what we saw from today’s ‘Q’.
  7. Thanks to all the men who posted today. It is always an honor to lead you, no matter how poorly it turns out.

  1. Disaster, if it’s any consolation your backblast was superbly executed.

  2. I’m guessing it’s 7 AM for F3 dads, right?

  3. And… let’s not forget… you NAILED those 12 counts.
