Independence Day Blowout Back Blast
All All MECA BackblastsJuly 4th, 2016
Class V’s technologically challenged BackBlast…
1776 Marked the day 13 colonies declared their independence from the tyranny of the British Empire and became the United States.
This morning Six men united in remembrance and honoring of this historic date and commemorated the events of the 4th of July through an epic beat down.
Q gave the disclaimer and became one with freedom as he declared his independence from sobriety in the form of #America and dawned the head of a bald eagle while carrying our flag. #Budweiser #24pk
Promptly began the warmorama with a Davis Lake lap but this was no ordinary lap, this was a Freedom Lap full of “Rockets with red glare and bombs bursting in air” @KJ lead the Pax by carrying the flag in front while dodging the Q’s pyrotechnics. Needless to say we started with a bang.
Warmorama
1 Burpee
7 SHH
7 Windmills
6 Cottonpickers
(Point Break claims their was intention there but I swear it was mere coincidence)
The Thang
The original Declaration of Independence was finalized on July 2nd 1776, as Johns Adams wrote to Abigail Adams: “This day is going to be lit for years yo!” (I’m paraphrasing) Though Adams was off by two days of which date we would celebrate, July the 2nd was the day the Declaration was first signed.
Thus we celebrated this Freedom Fact by going back two days in the form of 20 backward lunges
The original Declaration of Independence was drawn up by the “Committee of Five” comprised of Thomas Jefferson (the main author), John Adams, Ben Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston
The forethought of these men are still current in today as we as a nation reflect and draw from the inspiration and boldness of which these men declared for their fellow countrymen.
As such, the Pax boldly completed 5 of each exercise consecutively: Burpees, Merkins, Air Squats, Mountain Climbers, and LBCs
Moseying to the plastic jungle of endless possibilities, the Pax’s knowledge of the 4th of July was tested in the form of presidential livelihood. 3 US presidents passed away on the 4th of July, the first two being Thomas Jefferson and the Second John Adams on the very same day. Adam’s last words were to the effect “I beat that old bastard” in regard to Jefferson, unknowingly Jefferson had passed just hours beforehand. The third president to pass away on this historic day was James Monroe. I have no fun tidbits about him. #sorrynotsorry
To honor these fine gents, we the pax, forged through 30 dips, 30 step ups, and 30 incline Merkins. Freedom is a wonderful thing and the Pax fully exercised their freedom through this exercise as Point Break declared hhis own independence by doing the exercise in his own order. Way to stick it to the man. #We’renotgoingtotakeit
George Washington was heralded as the true American. Leading his men into battle against all odds while being at the front lines earned the respect of his men. Washington in turn, on the 2nd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, ordered that his soldiers all have double ration of rum. My kind of guy!
Pax showed hesitation as to what the Q may have in store dawning a GR2 rucksack. The commemoration however was one of the Q’s favorite, 20 kicks of flutter! #lovemesomeKoF
Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Or something like that. To the rocks! This came with its own challenge as Q threw the pax into panic with his nature encounter. For future reference, don’t slam the rock back down especially if it’s cover with a hornets nest. Moving along. The pax grew weary as the Q carefully selected his stone this time.
There were thirteen colonies in attendance in Philadelphia to vote on the matter of whether or not the separation from the British Empire was not only moral but realistic. The vote went something like this: 9 ‘Yes’ (yay North Carolina) 2 ‘No’ (boo South Carolina) 1 abstain and 1 undecided (get it together Connecticut)
We crushed 9 curls, 2 skull crushers, 1 standing mason twist and 1 standing merkin press…
@Farm felt accomplished finishing first after getting a head start as Q finished clarifying the exercise… That was too easy you say? But wait there’s more! We did this 13 times! Can you guess why? I bet these gents can. They were starting to love these Freedom Facts.
Mary or was it Martha?
Mary so early you ask? Yes, because just like Martha kissing GW, it was grueling for all those involved. #Dudecouldkillavampire
The pax were given two exercises to complete IC in secession:
1 Low Dolly
7 Rosalitas
7 Low Dolly
6 Rosalitas
(I still don’t understand what Point Break was trying to point out about my choice in cadence counts)
Next,
1 Reverse Crunch
7 Kicks of Flutter
7 Reverse Crunch
6 Kicks of Flutter
A little bit of a treat for the pax in the form of Homer to Marge as we counted down to 13… And HOLD IT!!!
Obviously the Pax haven’t had enough so we repeated the glorious core shredding just as our forefathers built the core of our country.
Upon recovering the Freedom Facts document was eagerly passed around as each member gave their John Hancock at the bottom commemorating this epic beat down just as our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence and proceeded to beat down England #USAUSAUSA
This was quite a day in American history 240 years ago and again today as we celebrate this beautiful country’s birthday. She may be aging but she’s still a looker! And great men like those of F3 prove why everyday.
@Farm, it’s always the right choice to follow a bald eagle. #letfreedomring
@KJ That pre work out run was much harder for me than it was for you, I just want you to know that lol
@PointBreak glad we got a chance to talk, looking forward to the next brew we share
@TNT you’re the man, glad you posted and you’re welcome for not being named after a girl #LeslieKnope
@Gordo don’t really know what to say after what you witnessed except you’re welcome. #sorrynotsorry
I want to thank you gentlemen for the honor of leading you all through this workout today. It meant quite a lot to me as you found out I would be boarding a plane 12hrs later to OKC. I’ve been head hunted for my rafting expertise and apparently flat Oklahoma required this such skill. Heard them ameobers out there are wild! Anyway, my short time with the Lakers has been incredible. I know I made the right choice that Saturday morning in February posting for the first time in 17 degree weather being clueless and not knowing a soul. I know I can say I definitely gained some brothers and great role models. I thank you guys for that.
I won’t be gone forever so don’t get sentimental on me. I’m coming back less sober than ever for the next beatdown!
Till next time Lakers…
