The Road to Calvary

All All MECA Backblasts

March 25th, 2016 By Glock

11 faithful PAX set out early Good Friday to pay tribute to the enormous suffering experienced by Christ on his way to and during the Crucifixion. Cross in hand the PAX embarked on a two mile run down Hillspring and up Timbergreen, returning to the parking lot via the golf course cart path (holes 6-9). The run was interrupted by 14 stations, representing the Stations of the Cross. After a brief devotion at each stop the PAX did an exercise or two on their own count. By my count we did close to 100 burpees, 120 Merkins and air squats each, and a number of jump squats, Mt. Climbers, WWII sit-ups, LBC’s, CDD’s, and Mason Twists.

Appreciate the fellowship on this incredibly important day. The crucifixion is an amazing display of God’s love for us; let’s never take it for granted. As expressed in 1 John 4:10: This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Hapoy Easter to you and your families.

  1. Man, Glock, you knocked it out of the park with this one! Such a great idea and the execution was perfect. It was very powerful running with the cross all morning. I’ve never experienced a feeling like that in the gloom before, good stuff brother!

@Dr. Seuss- Thanks for sharing your story this morning. I think I can speak for every man out there when I say that we are a stronger group because of you! Glad you found us!

  2. @Glock – superbly done.
@Gump’s mumble chatter kept to a reverential minimum.

Our family watches Mel Gibson’s The Passion on either Holy Thursday or Good Friday. Graphic albeit realistic depiction of Good Friday.
    Happy Easter all!

  3. Beautifully done Glock! Thanks for the leadership, suffering (no joke) and ending with the Lord’s Prayer!!!
