This Q is DONE with technology……..

All All MECA Backblasts

November 25th, 2015 By Dingo

Another cold morning.  Im getting used to the cold now.  However…….At 5:30am it was just Coyote and I standing in the parking lot.  1 minute prior I told Coyote that if no one else shows, lets go get coffee.  I couldn’t  see his eyes, so it was hard to read his reaction to this suggestion.  He did not jump up and down in joy??  But he is a fresh newly wed, so he may be tired.  At 5:30 to my utmost excitement he said lets go get coffee!  As he was reaching for the door handle of his Kia(I know right?) Guinness pulled in……I immediately thought “I can talk Guinness into coffee, no harm done”.  But directly behind Guinness came The Farm…..and I knew my coffee days were done.  He would have come to coffee, but I would have heard about it for the next 23.4 years of my life.  So we ran.

As I was preparing a 4 mile route last night, I just wasn’t feeling it.  How can I make this more interesting?  SPEED!  Not the tablet.  The workout that Highlands has made so awesome!

This is what we did;

1 mile Indian run – Up into Collard Park and back.  let me tell you, 4 man Indian runs are not a good idea.

As we pulled back into the AO I saw a skinny young lad running around in confused circles.  At first I thought it was the dude with the big, black dog who walks by everyday.  I couldn’t see the dog and I was immediately scared for The Farm……Hoo, Hoo.  Then I remembered that Coyote was there and I am a Dingo, so The Farms safety was assured.  I could move on and figure out who this confused youngster was.  BAZINGA!!

So now were were 5.

YHC grabbed his phone, Coyote and The Farm checked my measurements and we were ready to begin the BEEP TEST!

20 Meter Sprints back and forth with decreasing amounts of time to finish the sprint.  If you fail to pass the cone before the beep, you are out.

So all was going well until we hear multiple beeps??  WTF??  Then nothing??  So apparently iPhone 6’s do not like sub freezing temps.  It shut down and was not coming back on.  Beep test over.  2 days in a row I have tried to use technology to change up the workout routine a little and 2 days the technology has failed.  In 2 years I have used technology may 3 times.  I am done.  I will never use it again.  Well…..except to bring Sally back 🙂

Down to the track we moseyed.  We estimate it is about a 250 meter track?  Could be 300?  who knows.

Partner up;

  1. 1 partner runs while the other rests.  runs to be at 80-90%
  2. 1 lap
  3. 2 laps
  4. 3 laps
  5. 2laps
  6. 1 lap

Walk to the stairs and line up and run up the stairs and down the drain

  1. Every step x 3
  2. Every 2nd step x 3
  3. At The Farms suggestion – Every 3rd step x 2
  4. Every 1 x 3
  5. Every 2 x 3

Go to end of path that leads to stairs.

  1. Lunge walk 30 yards
  2. Broad Jump 30 yards
  3. Run to top of steps
  4. Repeato

Wow!  Look at the time!!  I was having so much fun this morning that I had no idea it was almost 6:15!!  Great fellowship will do that!

Back up to front parking lot and do the following around the cones

  1. Karaoke
  2. Sprint
  3. Karaoke
  4. Backwards sprint
  5. Repeat x 4

Done

The Unfiltered moleskin;

  1. While I really wanted that coffee, I really needed that beatdown!

  1. There have been a lot of innuendos and insinuations about me being a newlywed recently……

    And low blow calling out my Kia! Koji is a magnificent beast!!

    1. Haha! The Kia reference was a test to see if you read the back blast! You passed 😉

      You haven’t even heard most of it! “Wow, Coyote is a lot nicer now he is married” is a VERY common only used phrase 🙂

    2. You have been a lot nicer bro. We’ve all been there!

      1. I was just frustrated 🙂

        1. However, you do return to the old Coyote if you are called out on your form!

  2. Solid beatdown @Dingo. When technology failed, I just knew it was going to turn into a bootcamp but you kept us moving. Funny thing…I got in my car and was going to send you a test text. My phone was at about 20%. Then it randomly shut off and wouldn’t turn back on for a bit. The “charge me” icon was showing up… When I got to the intersection of mallard and Harris, I tried again and it turned on and was at 20%. I guess iPhones don’t like the cold???

    1. Funny thing…my Samsung has NEVER had that problem. 😉

      1. Well that’s one for Samsung….everything else for Apple! 😉

      2. My other iPhones, 4 & 5 would shut down in extreme heat, but never cold. This is a frustrating first

  3. Sorry to ruin the coffee moment, @Dingo and @Coyote. Extra coffee for you on Thursday and Friday morning. The beatdown was better than the coffee from my perspective. It was a tougher beatdown than the cruise.See you in the gloom for the Thanksgiving beatdown.

  4. So after looking into this cold weather problem, it appears that iPhones struggle under 32 degrees.

    So!! The beep test will come back in warmer weather! As will Roxanne and Sally!
