Highlands Murph

7 men accepted the monthly challenge and met at the Sports Club for the Murph.

The Thang:

  1. 1 mi run
  2. 100 pull-ups
  3. 200 merkins
  4. 300 air squats
  5. 1 mi run
  6. Broga

The Naked Moleskin

  1. After years of doing the Murph some of us were thinking it might get just a tad easier.  Nope.  This morning was a real kick in the teeth.
  2. Derby LIFO’ed.  He was starting his run as the front runners came in from mile 1.  He then knocked out his sets and had to bail to get to Winston by 7:30 AM.
  3. Kool-aid did the murph so fast that he was already returning to the lot by the time our final two guys (not going to mention that the absolute last guys to finish were Nanny and Stoli) started out on the final run.  He beat us so bad that we felt bad that he would be in the lot by himself for so long waiting for us.  Turns out he did get bored b/c as we were entering the parking lot, he was leaving.  The dude still has it.
  4. Kato met the pax’s request for a little Broga action and led us through some great stretches.  Stoli kept us very entertained as he struggled with which arm was actually his left arm, and then just about falling over as his limbs were all entwined and he lost his balance (while sitting).

The Murph feels like it will never end around set 6, and then on the run home I feel so very excited that it is in fact over. The Murph is some hard work men. Way to post this morning.

Am I missing a guy? I am having a brain freeze here….who am I missing?

Yea I clearly missed you so dang much that I dropped your name from the pax list!! Sorry brother. Really was good to see you back today.

Good to be back for a Murph. I kinda expected to roll up this morning to see 30 guys….where was everyone? Is 7 typical for the Murph these days? Not that I have any grounds to ask the question…I haven’t done the Murph for months.

It never gets easy. I survived it with the Chelsea method (20 sets of 5/10/15).

  3. Stoli

I looked like I never worked out before. Terrible display this morning. I think we need to keep official record of monthly Murph times to increase the challenge and prep work. Personally, my time (and how I feel) does not improve each time which is unacceptable.

@Stoli, your only competition should be if you worked harder than you did last time. For instance in my case, if my schedule demands higher priority time elsewhere, then I lose a bit of consistency and my times may start to slip…nothing to sweat over unless I’m competing against others. The one thing that you can always do 100% of the time, however, is put out and embrace the suck. F3 isn’t a team sport; it’s a team-building sport.

      Great work this morning!
