RelayRaces

15 men came out on a wet, but mild morning for some team sprints at El Dorado. Here’s how it unfolded.

  • Arrive at AO
  • See several PAX warming up with a light jog around the parking lot
  • Explain that the Seattle like weather was brought in special for this beatdown and we were going to run…because that’s what Seattle should have done last night on 2nd and 1. #DumbPlaycall
  • AYG race to the Deck
  • Based on finish, be grouped into teams of 3; each team has a 1 member from fast group, medium group and the “6” group.

Relay race 1

  • Team member 1 up and down StH
  • Team member 2 plank
  • Team member 3 CDD
  • Rotate until each member completes all three stages

Relay race 2

  • Team member 1 up and down StH (alternate flights between running and bunny hops)
  • Team member 2 plank crunches
  • Team member 3 air squats
  • Rotate until each member completes all three stages

Relay race 3

  • Team member 1 up StH; LBCs while waiting at top
  • Team member 2 up StH; LBCs while waiting at bottom and top
  • Team member 3 up StH; LBCs while waiting at bottom

Relay race 4

  • Team member 1 partner carries #2 up ramp
  • Team member 3 mason twist at bottom; when 1 & 2 reach top of ramp, 3 runs up to meet team members
  • All three members run to next ramp
  • Team member 2 partner carries #3 up ramp
  • Team member 1 mason twist at bottom; when 2 & 3 reach top of ramp, 1 runs up to meet team members
  • All three members run to next ramp
  • Team member 3 partner carries #1 up ramp
  • Team member 2 mason twist at bottom; when 1 & 3 reach top of ramp, 2 runs up to meet team members
  • All three members run to next ramp
  • Continue pattern to top of ramps

Relay race 5

  • Same as race 4 except partner carriers run¬†backwards up the deck

Rinse and Repeat until time

At some point during all this, the Q should lose his car keys.

Moleskin:

  • The wet weather caused a few slips coming down the stairs but no one went all the way, that I saw
  • There was more break time before races than I thought there would be. I’ll make sure to keep us all moving on my next Q.
  • Kotters to Filibuster. El Dorado is not an easy place to start a comeback. Especially when you needed to take that break early on. After 7-layer Mexican dip followed by Chili for dinner, I was afraid I would be joining you.
  • T-Claps to Google. I still don’t know how you do El Dorado (modified or not) with a torn ligament in your knee.
  • If I forgot your name in the PAX list…please sign off in the comments. I think I got everyone. Normally, I would have recorded everyone’s names but my phone was in my car, which I couldn’t get into, due to said lost keys.
  • Thank you to @TheNanny for being my personal chauffer and driving me back to the deck to look for said keys only to have them not be there and then drive me all the way to get a spare set and then all the way back to my car. #Selfless or #TryingToAvoidWorkOnAMonday i’ll go with the first.

Great job by everyone this morning. Wanted to try something a little different. It kept the PAX together, unless you were on the Skipper-Stoli-Chowder team. I’m still not sure how Minnow ended up in the “6” group.

@Frodo – Bummer about your keys. That @Nanny is a nice guy. Not many others would have been that nice after what you put us through this morning. #backwardspartnercarryuphill

@Stoli and @Chowder – Thanks for teaming with me! #howdidChowderendupin6group?

@Exit54 – Thanks for the push on STH races, also enjoyed the 2nd F on run back. #concordisalright

@Frodo Cool format today. Liked how you kept the groups even. I REALLY liked how all you lemmings ran up to the safety fence and then had to turn around at the very beginning. Thought I was going to have the run to myself until Frodo caught me #typical. Glad to be your driver for the morning. Always willing to help a brother out – especially when it isn’t convenient. That is the definition of a brother, right?

@Indiana @Mustard we had a really balanced team – in regards to body weight. I think we are all within 5 pounds of each other. It just happens to be a height variance of about 6 inches….

@Skipper Enjoyed our race up and then down StH in the 2nd to last race. You are like a crocodile – really fast in a straight line.

@Exit 54 I just could not shake you on that final race – I was even taking stairs three at a time and you still beat me! You and your young legs. #hate

@Filibuster Ditto above – making a comeback at El Dorado after Super Bowl Snack Sunday…ouch. Just glad that you publicly committed to your M, W, F comeback plan so that now you have to do it.

@Frodo…good workout with lots of variety….you are looking really strong, and fast

@Gordo, @Exit54, @Backdraft….nice running with all of you this morning

    @Indy…welcome to the club!
