Maintenance Cruise
All All MECA BackblastsDecember 3rd, 2014
11 pax posted for a Cruise that is not preparing anyone for anything other than life. Thunder Road is over. HC 5K is months away. Mud Run is months away. We are in maintenance mode – that place where you run in order to maintain some semblance of the hard earned fitness from the last few months of CSAUP. Life is a series of seasons; ups, downs, valleys, and mountaintops. Be where you are. It is preparing you for the next season.
The Thang:
- 4.9 mi 201 Central Loop.
The Naked Moleskin:
- Forecast called for 47ish degrees. Actual temp was 44. Perfect shorts, short sleeves, hat, and gloves running weather. Able to run and barely sweat. Opposite of summer.
- T-claps to Frodo for hanging back for a bit with an ailing BOS.
- T-claps to Bootstrap for hanging back with his FNG. Walking side by side with a brother who is just beginning a running journey is a noble thing to do.
- Watch said we did 8:53 miles. Enjoyed the 6:50 pace for the last .25 mile w/ J-Lo taking the checkered flag.

Great morning for a run, gents. Thanks for joining me in the gloom. Did a couple sad clown runs last week while on vacation and they were shorter than today’s run but felt twice as long.
@Frodo Sorry for not waiting for you after your two wheels up entry into the lot at 5:31. Actually not sorry – we had half turned to do a short loop to wait for you until someone yelled “it is Frodo!” The fastest Thunder Road Half MECA man can catch up to us so we left you.
@J-Lo You were just full of energy this morning. I think our pace held you back. Maybe next time we will break into a varsity group….
@Ironhides You were an FNG to me on Tuesday but after partnering with you for the sprints and then hanging a bit during the run this morning it feels like you have been here for a while. Glad you found us after your recent move from Atlanta and look forward to what looks like a new consistent pax member. You planning for 4, 5, 6 days a week? You are off to a strong start. Also enjoyed hearing about your fitness transformation – very inspiring.
@The Nanny – probably average 3 times a week… running will still be primary exercise.
Fun run with @bootstrap and @FNG Jonathan!
