Arctic Blast Cruise
All Highlands BackblastsNovember 13th, 2019
The fall temperatures we have been enjoying were blown away by the first Arctic Blast of the year with temperatures in the low 20’s at launch time. BRRRRRRRR! New route I have been wanting to try: Out front entrance to L on HC Parkway, L on Shelley Ave, R on Ridge Rd, cross and L on Creek Breeze Rd, R on Jimmy Oehler, L at roundabout down to L at next roundabout (Johnson Oehler Rd), R on Bingham Rd, L into Mallard Creek Park, around to the entrance by Parkside Elementary, L on Johnson Oehler and back to shovel flag cutting through bus parking lot. Can add extra by going all the way around Parkside Elementary and the long way back to the shovel flag.
A couple minutes of stretching before BOM & COT.
MOLESKIN:
- With my phone telling me it was 25 degrees I was expecting low numbers but got an impressive turnout. Stout, hearty men in this AO. Even had @Skipper join us since The Valley was doing a random route over by Wal Mart!?,
- A couple of the PAX are ready for the Charlotte races this weekend – @Dutch Boy (Full, not fool) and @Pavarotti (Half). Forecast is looking good for some PR’s. Still remember not long ago pulling @Dutch Boy through Cruises early in the year, now he is smoking me. Good luck gents, you are ready.
- Thought the route worked out well. Some challenging hills, not much traffic, and a good route to break into small groups and have some 2nd F.
- Time Laps(e). Got the makings for a decent team and @Skipper has a world class Triathlete to bring in as a ringer. Looking forward to cheering him on while I drink my beer after a hard Channel loop.
