May 8th, 2017 By The Farm

Last year as we were wrapping up our BRR training and beginning our tapering period, YHC wrote a farewell to Senator Royall (see that farewell here). In that farewell, YHC mentioned that the men of MeCa knew she’d be waiting for us in 2017. Well…2017 is here and she hadn’t gone anywhere. We decided to test her out and see if she’d gotten any easier (spoiler alert…she hasn’t).

Here is the route YHC posted to Slack last night:

“Tomorrow’s route from The Valley is as follows. Make a left out of the lot, then a right and run up Senator Royal to Mallard Creek Church, turn around and run down to David Taylor. THEN, turn around again and run up SR, then turn around and run down to David Taylor. THEN turn around AGAIN and run up SR…then turn around and run down to David Taylor again and back to the parking lot.”

As YHC drove to the AO this morning, I decided to give my M and her friend a preview of what I’d be doing with the boys this morning…as we got ready to make a left onto SR I spotted @Dingo and @Grizzly running to Corvian to which I said out loud…”those guys are idiots!” After dropping the ladies off and going back down, I let them know what I thought, @Filibuster joined, and we were off. @Dingo mentioned something about not doing three rounds this morning after running to the AO. Well…he did do three rounds along with YHC and @Filibuster. @Grizzly sat out the third round due to a sore paw (hope it’s not serious brother).

I saw the F3 mantra come to fruition this morning. Senator Royall is the same as it has always been but did not seem quite as difficult. Was some of that due to the perfect running temperatures this morning? Sure! But some of it is also due to the persistence of every man that was out there this morning to be better and get stronger. The thought of running to a running workout, running, and then running home used to be #CSAUP. Now it’s just a regular Monday, Wednesday, or Saturday morning. Aye!
