We Are All Rubberband Men

All All MECA Backblasts

January 26th, 2017 By The Farm

YHC knows this title (and the workout for that matter) is strange. It was a strange morning, mostly due to YHC’s idea from last night to bring back a workout that a few of the veterans (@King Julian and @Point Break) had seen but many of the pax had not seen. Back in October 2015, YHC was checking out the FIA handle and came across the name game. Basically, every letter is assigned an exercise…many of them being burpees. YHC does enjoy burpees…but lady luck is the responsible culprit for them this morning. I just brought the tools. Seven men + YHC played along.

Warmorama:
SSH x 10 IC
IST x 10 IC
WM x 10 IC
MC x 10 IC

The Thang:

We used this sheet attached here.

YHC brought an empty bottle of one of my favorite beers and took turns spinning the bottle. Whatever man it landed on, we spelled out his name and did the exercises. The men that were selected were:

SchoolBus
Point Break
Two Step

Lots of burpees which equaled lots of mumblechatter.

Moleskin:

T-claps to @2 Step and @King Julian for keeping with the 2 mile pre-runs. Also t-claps to @Maasai for running to and from the beatdown. YHC believes that’s about 1.5 miles for him.

Regarding the title, a good rubber band when new is very inflexible and hard to stretch. If you let that rubber band just sit there it will stay that way. If you try to stretch it too far too quickly it will snap. But, if you slowly stretch it, over time it will be able to handle more pulling while still remaining strong.

As men, we are rubber bands. In F3, we are stretching each other while remaining strong in the process. If an FNG comes out and does too much too soon, he may snap and get injured which would be counterproductive to his health and his likelihood to continue posting in the future. This is why we stress the importance of doing your best as an individual and not necessarily doing all reps. It is not up to your brothers to know what that is but it is our responsibility as men who care about each other to hold each other accountable. We cannot get stronger individually or as a group if we aren’t continuing to stretch ourselves and each other every single day. Be honest with yourselves and know if you are truly giving 100% and if you aren’t, push harder.  If you aren’t changing, then you aren’t challenging yourself.  If we aren’t getting stronger and able to stretch ourselves more, we won’t get better at dealing with life as things are constantly trying to pull us away from what is most important. We won’t be becoming the better husbands, sons, fathers, co-workers, etc. that we have set out to become. I am always amazed how I think back to a tough workout or CSAUP event and think, “If I got through that then I can definitely manage this other challenging thing in my life.”

I want to personally thank each of you guys for holding me accountable. I have gotten stronger in the gloom because of it and mostly importantly, become a better man outside of it.

Have a good day!
