Welcome to the Ranch
All All MECA BackblastsNovember 3rd, 2016
13 men woke up early and joined together for a little exercise. Wait…13? Only 13? Where was everyone? Obviously many fartsacked after watching the Cubs win their first World Series title in 108 years. So they decided to sleep in and miss a Frodo led bootcamp…which also happens about once every 108 years. In honor of the Cubs, the planned workout was almost scrapped and a pure 100% upper-body workout was going to be led. But, Frodo leading an upper body workout won’t even happen every 108 years. So…we stuck with the original plan.
After a disclaimer, the explanation of a “Ranch” workout was given…after the beatdown, we’ll head home, shower, go to work, come home, eat dinner, help with kids and then probably sit on the couch and read, watch tv, or talk with the M. At some point, we’ll decide it’s time to go up stairs to bed. When arriving at the base of said stairs, we will look up at the top and think, “My legs are shot…I wish I lived in a Ranch.” Today was all legs.

Mary:
LBC x2 IC
Moleskin:
- Chopper took over the role of Gump by stretching during the warm-up instead of actually warming up.
- After the first 7-1 ladder Chopper mentioned there were merkins in the burpees and I had promised no upper body. So, the second 7-1 ladder we did 1-legged sprawls (merkin-less burpees). These did turn out to be a little easier. At this point, I also realized that Chopper lives in a ranch. Not sure the connection, but there has to be one somewhere.
Mumblechatter heard
- On the way to the 7-1 ladder (we had only done the warmup)…Alcatraz said, Frodo “reminds me of Negan.” Apparently this is a villain from the most recent season of The Walking Dead that is very giddy about being evil. Nobody reacted so Alcatraz had to explain the reference. Google mentioned that he was only on season 3 to which Alcatraz replied, “There’s a lot of death between you and me.” What’s the over/under on Baptist preachers that have uttered that line?
- After the first 7-1 ladder; Google: “That was the hardest ladder ever”. We hadn’t even gotten to the quadrifilia upgrade yet.
- During the partner carries when Fury stopped carrying Alcatraz and began to carry Frodo: “Wow. This is much better.”
- During monkey-humpers; Chopper: “I’ve always wanted my monkey-humpers critiqued.”
- There was probably more, but I either didn’t hear it or can’t remember it.

Always fun to lead. Great push by all. Thanks Gordo, Sully and Allstate for partnering with me. Hope everyone enjoys their chair today.
Great work out. With the excessive amounts of burpees, there were rumblings of revolting. That was tough!
I will set the over/under on that line at 1.5 and take the under. Glad Frodo could give something to be thankful for. Still feeling it.
