(S)He’s a Bad Mama Jama (and other groovy tunes)

All Harrisburg Backblasts

July 22nd, 2024 By Talladega

Monday morning Circuit Breaker and 7 studs ready to go, even with a little drizzle and a ton of humidity.  Disclaimer given and then a little warmup to begin.

A little explanation about the routine for the day was given and then off for a mosey around Venture church.  Upon our return the fun began.  We had 12 signs with an exercise on each.  Do 10 reps of the first exercise, then go to the front doors of Venture church for a burpee, return to the second sign and do 10 reps, back to the front doors of Venture church for a burpee, return to the third sign and do 10 reps, etc. etc. etc.  The last sign in the sequence was to take a lap (for today the lap was around Venture Church).  Upon returning, repeat the exercise sequence but this time do 2 burpees each time at the front doors.  Next cycle, do 3 burpees.  Next cycle go back to 2 burpees.  Finally go back to 1 burpee.

12 exercises included (but maybe not in this order per my poor memory):

610 on the watch, gather the PAX for one more mosey around Venture church and then call it- Recover Recover.

Count off, name-arama, announcements/prayers/praises

AMEN

Moleskin:

Grateful that Constitution was prepared with music (as always) and we were able to numb the suckiness with some groove, hence the Bad Mama Jama reference which seemed to light Kojak’s fire (thanks Kojak for a good workout title).  As YHC looked up this song to be sure that I gave proper credit, I was met with this image-

Nothing like some 1980s poster magic- let that burn into your memory bank!  Seriously, music made the difference for YHC today, even saw some others who enjoyed the playlist.  The bigger catalyst no doubt was having others out in the gloom going through the same ‘fun’ as me.  Group-suffer and accountability make all the difference.  And if you ever wonder if these exercises are so easy that anyone can do it, I’ll just say that some chose to start but for whatever reason they bowed out.  Two young dudes (high school maybe?) came out about 15 minutes into the routine and joined in, then in an instance, they were gone.  Maybe it was too easy, maybe it was too hard, maybe it was confusing, maybe they didn’t like the music- doesn’t matter.  For those that started and stayed to the end, I salute you, you won the battle to start your day.  Peace out homeys!
