A different kind of Satisfaction
All Rolling Stone BackblastsApril 27th, 2022
7 pax joined YHC for the weekly edition of the Satisfaction Cruise, or the Rolling Ruck as the ruckers continue their numerical dominance.
Hot Pack, JB and YHC for the run
Sugar, Chachi, Manwich, Pox and Detention for the ruck
The route is a bit more aggressive at 5+ miles – the P and the entire Greenway, so it could go a bit over the 45 minutes. Manwich and Chachi state they have a hard out at 45 minutes due to having to go into work. Chachi has always been going in, but Manwich is just getting back. If only Putin hadn’t killed off Covid by invading Ukraine giving the media something else to focus on and forcing Manwich back on site. Damn you. Damn you Putin.
So it’s already a hodgepodge and we will see how it goes as the ruckers do their thing with encouragement to stay out a bit longer so they aren’t waiting long for the runner. Hot Pack takes off and within moments is out of sight before he comes circling back. JB and YHC make their way into Wellington Chase easy enough and cross back in Moss Creek. At about that time, YHC starts to feel the rumble. He should have seen it coming. Sunday was his bday and he decided to have some Hooters wings delivered as it had been forever since having them. They were tasty, but the battle with the stomach was real. The fact that YHC continued to eat leftovers with similar results was rearing its ugly head right now. Can he make it the whole route…and through COT…and the ride home. He was thinking he could, but then there was the realization: He would be running right by his house. It was all over at that point. If people doubt there being such a thing as a sixth sense, they clearly forget what happens when they really have to GO and they are nearing a toilet. Hot Pack had already taken off and needed to get back, so he was good. YHC informed JB of the detour and the race to the house was on…

After evacuation, YHC bee-lined it back to the AO. Note that the above pic is time stamped 6:05am and he finished business and ran a mile to arrive around 6:17am. Not too shabby.
JB arrived from the longer greenway route just after YHC arrived and all were accounted for. Nice job JB! Almost 7 miles as he tests his ticker and all still great!
COT: Prayers for Sugar’s friend from Ohio (apologies as I forgot his name) as he continue to battle demons, drugs, etc. Hopefully, he finds peace and wisdom. Prayers to JB’s Brother in Law’s family as Brad passed away less than a year ago and both of his kids have their birthdays coming up, their first without their dad.
Speaking of little kids. I mentioned that a friend of mine, Josh, is going through a horrible tragedy. His niece and nephew, Ziva and Xander, were riding in a golf cart with their parents when a tree fell on the cart and killed both children. Just about as tragic as tragic gets. Complete freak accident. When children pass, it is hard to understand how it could happen. None of us really know why. Some believe that it was part of God’s plan, or that he needed a couple of more angels. To each their own, but that is not the view I subscribe to. My view is more that the good Lord blessed us with free will, and with that free will comes the possibility that anything can happen, even crazy accidents like this. I further subscribe to the idea that this is not heaven, suffering happens. We are lucky to live in a time and place where suffering is minimal, but suffering is pretty much one of the core aspects of human existence since it began. While that is my 2 cents on that, we can all agree that tragedies like this certainly bring a level of gratitude to the lives we have and those we love. And, if you got some littles, give them a big hug tonight.
RIP Ziva and Xander
