Evening Beatdown Electoral College Edition
All Highlands BackblastsJanuary 15th, 2021
Last week members of the Capitol Police, Congressional staff, and elected representatives found themselves in harm’s way when intruders interrupted the business at hand: the counting of the Electoral College ballots that had been delivered from each of the 50 states and DC. Around the world, people wondered what those actions would mean for America’s future. More on that later.
Last night four PAX showed up at HCES for bootcamp beatdown. After a brief disclaimer by YHC, we moseyed over to the RRMS lot for…

The THANG
Mosey ’round the corner to the brick wall for three rounds of partnered People’s Chair (with arm raises) and runs up the hill for five burpees. Then, a mosey up to the track.
Last week’s violence in the US Capitol seems to have been intended to interrupt the counting of the Electoral College ballots, a procedure that rarely gets much attention but serves as a key step in making the transition from one presidential term to the next as provided by the U.S. Constitution. The evening beatdown marked that process with 538 reps, one for each of the Electoral College votes cast, both those going to Mr. Biden and those going to Mr. Trump. In one lap around the track, the PAX performed sets of 20 reps each of Dips, Squats, Merkins, Mason Twists, and Plank Jacks (that’s 100). REPEATO (that’s 200), REPEATO (That’s 300). The circuit then switched to 20 reps each of Incline Merkins, Lunges, Carolina Dry Docks, Freddy Mercurys, and Plank Jacks (that’s 400). REPEATO (that’s 500). Then, 38 LBCs on your own to hit the 538 total.
Mosey back to HCES.
