Burning Rubber…
All The Dawg House BackblastsOctober 17th, 2019
Fall has finally arrived. YHC served up some awesome cool temps for the Dawgs and the Thursday cruise. 10 Dawgs answered the bell… knowing odds were high that the track would be on the menu today.
When the clock struck 5:30, YHC surveyed the crowd to see we had 10 Dawgs in total (9 runners and 1 rucker). We quickly hit the pavement and headed for the stadium. The gate somehow magically opened for YHC and we headed straight for the track. After a quick warm up, YHC explained the plan for this speed session and off we went. The rucker plan for Spauldini was to carry heavy stuff and walk fast, which he did well. He even found time to cheer for the runners as they cruised by. For the runners, the schedule was as follows…
1 lap warm up
4 x 200m (1/2 lap) at speed, with 200m recovery between speed runs
4 x 400m (1 lap) at speed, with 400m recovery between speed runs
… and repeato until time is up.
The track always presents opportunities to work on your speed and mental game while also hopefully knocking out a few PRs along the way. Early returns on Strava showed that Yellowcake had PRs on multiple distances and I’m sure other Dawgs did as well. Great work men and way to embrace the suck! #ironsharpensiron
