The Thang + Moleskin
YHQ announced the route last night on Slack so that anybody needing to modify for whatever reason easily could. F3 is Fitness, Fellowship and Faith. Every workout ends with prayer requests at COT and every beatdown and cruise the Pax engage in mumblechatter. Some days are filled with more of each than others, but every day the Pax get a solid, peer-led, unprofessional workout. We will all experience time crunches due to other commitments and injuries along the way but the important thing is getting out in the gloom and working hard with the time you have available. Today was a perfect example of how it should go.
Disclaimer given and the route described again. Some confusion but I think most figured it out when we got out there. Down the greenway, up the Ravenscroft Hill Climb (“The Lasso”), right on Tranquility, back up Ravenscroft for the Lasso, and then left on Tranquility to head back to the Greenway and AO. About 4.2ish miles running it straight. The Pax did a great job at each transition of circling back for the Six to keep everyone together.
The cruise started with 5 runners and 2 ruckers. On Ravenscroft the Pax was joined by Heatstroke and Jiffy who are battling Plantar Fasciitis and early-rising toddlers, respectively. As we finished the second Ravenscroft loop and the Pax circled back for the Six before entering the greenway, Hot Pack took off to adhere to his other time constraints. For all involved, some work is better than no work and we all do what we can do improve ourselves and those around us.
Regardless of AO vs. AO competitions, Iron Pax beatdowns or any other challenges and races that we all enjoy, fitness is, and always will be, you versus you. Be better than you were yesterday. Run a little faster, get your form a little cleaner, hold plank a little longer. We are together for 45 minutes each morning to improve our Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. Make the most of that time and don’t worry about the other guy’s form and reps; do it for you, but don’t forget to pick up the Six.
