A Very FAIR Workout
All Rolling Stone BackblastsAugust 29th, 2019
Who doesn’t love a themed workout?!!! Am I right??! OK so I can think of at least one Gumpy individual but no matter, I signed up and the PAX were stuck with me (and it).
So it’s that time of year again. Summer is winding down and school will soon start and that means it’s time for YHC’s pilgimmage back to The Great Darke County Fair! Darke County, Ohio that is or for those geographically challenged, West-Central Ohio. Greenville to be exact. The Treaty City as it is called due to the Treaty of Greenville (or The Treaty of Fort Greenville) which was signed in 1795 after many years of violent conflict between the US Army and several tribes in the surrounding areas and opened up the then Northwest Territory of the United States to settlement. Darke County is also known as the birthplace of several famous individuals including, Tecumseh (Great Indian Chief and leader)Annie Oakley (famous sharpshooter), Lowell Thomas (Famous correspondent) and Matt Light of the New England Patriots. All of which are interesteing but what takes me back every year is The Great Darke County Fair!
The Great Darke County Fair’s first year was in 1852 and this year marked the 163rd fair. (The Fair was not held for 2 years during the Civil War and 1 year during the Polio epidemic) Check link above if so inclined, good stuff. Anyway, since the fair was as fresh on my mind as the pounds gained are on my frame from all the delicous fair food, I thought Id share some Fair with my RS Bros!!
Disclamer and a welcome to FNG Tom and we’re off to the ball courts for:

Evolution 2 – Barrel Race (Dora 123 style) with Darke County Dry Docks
3 blocks were placed triangle style toughly 20yds apart.
P1 does the exercise while P2 runs the barrels as the timer (Cowboy style) making a loop around each one and then sprinting straight back to relieve P1. 163 combined reps is the target.
Evolution 3 – Pole Race with Diamond Merkins
Several blocks were lined up down the center of the lot. P1 runs slalom style to the end and then sprints straight back to relieve P1. 163 combined reps is the target.

Crunch time! LBCs, Freddy Mercs, Pretzel Crunch, dying Cockroach and Rosalitas.
Lots of fun today Brothers, thanks for playing along. Although it was fun I neglected to mention another issue Darke County is noted for lately and that’s an Opioid crisis, much like most of small town America. Home is still Home and still worth visiting and believe it or not, The Fair is still The Fair. Not much about it has changed. Lots of great memories there and always enjoyable!
TAP out to The Bear and my Step-father who is back home and recovering from his bypass surgery. Also a big Stoner welcome to Birthday Boy FNG Tom! #Respect
