Highway to Rail

All Highlands Backblasts

July 2nd, 2019 By Alcatraz

As a PAX of 26 gathered on the first Tuesday of July, the gloom held the promise of a dog day of summer with a temp swing of 25 degrees for our fair city.  The Grammy winning Summertime by Will Smith/Jazzy Jeff created a “soft subtle mix and if it ain’t broke then don’t try to fix it”.  One might hypothesize that @Brinkley may contributed to the creation of @Brooklyn on that early 90s classic as the song clearly states it’s purpose is to soothe and move romance.  Not sure the PAX needs to really know that answer to that hypothesis.  But YHC can not control the comment section.

Standard disclaimer was given, but included a warning to never read the contents of chorizo.  Big mistake.  Big.  Huge!  But once again, YHC can not control the contents of the comment section nor the posts on Slack (for evidence view Slack posts from @Murdock or better yet don’t view Slack posts from @Murdock)

RAILED MOLESKIN:

  1. Great work today men!  The time flew by as YHC had another round of sprints planned as well as rotating through a Pull-up round in the groups of 3.
  2. Also originally planned the Highway to Rail sequence to have some multiplication in the mix and end with 10 Decline Merkins, 20 Incline Merkins, 30 Dips and 40 Airpresses.  Maybe next time.
  3. Welcome @TheFed!  Can you bring some shredded money next time?
  4. @Bromance shared good news about Olivia’s leukemia update and asked us to remember Adam as he recovers from surgery.
  5. @Ranger is doing well after his surgery.
  6. Thursday is July 4th and the beatdown will be at 0700!
  7. Sorry about the ants at the rail.  It appeared @KleanUp got the worst of it, but they also liked Canadian Bacon, aka @Poutine.  Can we do a rename?
  8. Surprisingly some PAX were not super duper excited on the second round of sprints to help @PrinceCharming get a 13 minute – 2 mile run at Fort Knox next week.  Thankfully, @TinyDancer provided a push.  And T-claps to @Glock for working @PrinceCharming out at 0500 with some 400 sprints on the track while @Disaster was still in bed.
  9. Speaking of @Glock, he created a puddle by just wringing out his gloves.  Good thing school is out or some kindergartner might have drown in that sweat pond.
  10. Even though @Retread may not have been fully potty trained when Summertime hit #4 in 1991, mad props that he was able to guess the artist.  Take a four minute respite today and let your blood pressure settle as you think of the summers of the past – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6WpvBHdk1c

Always an honor to lead the PAX!

  1. That was a serious beat down. The partner rows were more difficult than I anticipated. As #1 stated, they began to look more like monkey humpers than rows towards the end. That is right, you now have that visual in your head. You are welcome.

    1. I have no one to blame but myself for any opening the door for visuals after my @Brinkley hypothesis above. You never can put the toothpaste back in the tube.
