This week’s lesson on Border Policy
All BackBlasts BackblastsJune 26th, 2019
Today is the last Wednesday in the month. At Pain Academy that means testing time. At first YHC thought the muggy temperatures and scattered vacations would keep many pax away but a good crowd of 9 gathered round the shovel flag for the end-of-month test with a little extra credit YHC had hidden in his back pocket.
Some of the pax are fighting various injuries so YHC gave a version of the standard spiel about modify as needed, stop as required. Not sure it came out at all like that but the point was delivered and no questions were asked. In the absence of questions YHC assumes complete understanding was achieved.
In order to get the full test WIB in and the extra credit we moseyed our way, round about to the church across the street with a stop in the middle for some SSH and Windmills in cadence. Once we arrived on the testing site, we did a couple more cadence counts with Scap Merkins and Plank Jacks.
Sufficiently warmed up all pax signed the testing board with their callsign, YHC set the timer and music and we began. For those with short memory, today’s test WIB is one we call MAX, in honor of my friend Max DeLauney of Alabama who died at 8yo 2 years ago, 1 year after being adopted from China. The WIB goes like this:
- 20min AMRAP
- 40 Plank Jacks
- 30 Dips
- 20 Walking Lunges
- 10 Burpees
- 1 Lap
This class’ results are:
- Blue Crush = 693 reps
- Tough Skins = 533 reps
- Hornet = 500 reps (second test)
- The Body = 500 reps
- Silas = 477 reps (rookie test)
- Crabs = 470 reps (rookie test)
- Chum = 462 reps
- High Chair = 395 reps
- Nimbus = 350 reps
Once the test was over and the results accurately recorded, there was plenty of time left on the clock so YHC guided the pax back to the school for a practical lesson in Trump Border Policy. Here is the lesson plan for readers who prefer to take their lessons online and not in the gloom:
- LBC x 40 oyo at the sidewalk (simulating the Rio Grande)
- 10 over-the-wall burpees (at a short brick wall we think resembles Trump’s Wall)
- 20 step-ups each leg at a bench or platform inside the border
- AYG run from the playground to the field house (approximately 50yards)
With the test and lesson complete for today, there was still a few minutes remaining for a quick set of Mary
- LBC x 20 IC
- Rosalita x 10 IC En Espanol
- Dolly x 10 IC in your best Appalachian
- KTE x 10 IC
- Oblique Crunch x 10 IC each side
Test done, lesson done, and refresher done the pax gathered round for a traditional COT peppered with news, updates, and announcements. Nimbus delivered up some great take out to finish everything.
YHC has never been good at ending these things, so Cobains for this abrupt closer. Everyone did a great job this morning. It’s always a pleasure for YHC 43ft out front.
Blue Crush has the Q at Metal this Friday. The story continues….
