The Fastest Man Alive…and other lies you might believe
All Highlands BackblastsJune 25th, 2019
Twenty-four men showed up at HCES this morning for the fourth disastrous Q in as many days (including the Q Source Grinder). I actually woke up this morning and wondered if anyone would notice if I didn’t show up today. Luckily I got a second wind and was a better man because of it. Here’s how it all went down.
Lengthy disclaimer, including a warning about a run heavy beatdown. @Ambassador immediately began to regret his decision to show up today.
Mosey up to the bus lot, with some backwards running mixed in to keep @Dodger happy.

THE THANG
Mosey over to the extra large orange cone by the fourth basketball goal. The PAX had already begun to question the absence of the step stool based weinke that can usually be found at most of my beatdowns. Line up across the lot, with twelve men on each side of the cone. The two men in the middle beside the cone race to the rock on the far side of the lot (about 75 yards) and then back to the cone. The winner returns to the left side of the cone (winners circle) and the loser returns to the right side. Rotate so the next two men in line get the next race. During the runs, the rest of the PAX rotate through a series of six exercises OYO as follows:
- Merkins
- Lunges (no squats today @Powerball!)
- LBC
- CDD
- Apollo Ohno
- Reverse Crunch
After twelve first round races we began to narrow down the field. The new guys were pushing hard out there, leading to several very competitive races. Meanwhile, the veteran PAX who had seen this rodeo before were smart enough to sandbag so they could minimize their running. After three rounds (and two retirements due to injury) we were down to the final three. @Poutine, @Parkour, and @Shaft (you’re damn right!). @Poutine took an early lead and never looked back, bringing home this year’s title. He was awarded the discarded milk jug of honor as his prize, and the PAX moseyed back to the main parking lot for MARY.
MARY
- Plank for 85 seconds
- Boat for 85 seconds

- Low Flutter IC x 85 (thanks @Powerball, I was all cadenced out)

MOLESKIN
- Great job by the PAX today. This event works better with a smaller group so hopefully there wasn’t too much standing around. Maybe next year we’ll race in groups of three. Hopefully you got some good second F in as well. Clearly there were plenty of men eager to discredit the Q today. You’re welcome.
- Congratulations to our 2019 FMA champion @Poutine, who joins @Derby, @Google, and @Chavez in the ring of honor. It’s hard to resist the competition out there, but four 150 yard dashes in thirty minutes can really wear you out. Well done sir!
- Please remember @Ranger in your prayers today. He goes in for surgery around 1PM to have one of his kidneys removed. Hoping for a quick recovery. Also prayers for @Swamp Thing who went down with a foot injury on Friday. Diagnosis is unknown at this time.
- @Gump was not at today’s beatdown. No word on whether he is still out harassing people on his bike or if some angry driver finally took him out.
- @Barrister has the Q for the Cruise tomorrow, followed by Bootcamp with @Brinkley (isn’t that a children’s book?) on Thursday.
- The Sign Up Genius is pretty empty for July. Please sign up to Q if you haven’t done so in a while. One per month is all we need from you.

Doctor Dolan – “Isn’t there a children’s book about an elephant named Brinkley?”
Fletch – “I don’t know. I don’t have any.”
Doctor Dolan – “No children?”
Fletch – “No. Elephant books.”
Luckily I got great tips last night from Ben Johnson, a fellow Canuck! Made a big difference! @glock would have probably taken the honors if it wasn’t for the injury.
I’m glad my Low Flutter cadence could supplement my terrible form on the boat. Congrats to @Poutine for the title.
Frankly, I think those of us on the “consolation” side were the real winners. Strong mumblechatter.
@SwampThing cracked a metatarsal bone. No surgery, but in a walking boot.
