Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation Pow Wow
All Highlands BackblastsJune 6th, 2019
As a group of 17 men gathered in a breezy gloom, YHC gave the standard-ish disclaimer but failed to include his math skills in calculating the number of years for historical events. @DropCloth was a help and impressive in actually knowing Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States.
YHC attempted to create some context for a beatdown that was done entirely through Native American (Indian) Runs. With full responsibility acknowledged for not adding another 100 years to the May 28, 1830 signing of the Indian Removal Act and the fact that none of the PAX were planning to attend this weekend’s Pow Wow of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation near Burlington, NC (it’s a real thing, Google it) – Native American runs would be the conduit all exercises flowed through.
When Andrew Jackson signed the Act 189 years ago (not 89) he addressed congress saying he hoped they would “cast off their savage habits and become an interesting, civilized, and Christian community.” YHC has similar hopes for the Highlands PAX!
Native American WARMARAMA in the MS parking lot
- SSH
- IST
- Cotton Picker
- Windmill
- Hillbilly
THE THANG:
At the bottom of Dogwood Road the PAX executed a Native American Run up.
Foot on the curb Squats with switch down.
- @Gump enlighted the PAX with the definition of the Apache term “Nantan” used by F3 to describe a next man up leadership culture
Curb Merkins up
- @Iluminati received some assistance in naming 5 Native American groups
Heels close to curb Reverse Lunge with knee touching grass down
- PAX collective to name 5 sports teams invoking the strength of Native Americans in their mascot
CDD up
- PAX loosened up their hips with the dance moves from the Sugar Hill Gang’s Apache that peaked on Billboard’s Hot 100 at #53 in 1982. And yes, we know the parents of @Retread and @Dimebag were probably just hitting puberty then!
Hops with serpentine run down
- @SwampThing rattled off 5 movies that featured Native Americans. YHC hadn’t thought about Indian in the Cupboard in a long time and the PAX were entertained by the Major League movie reference.
A MOVING MARY:
- LBC
- Pretzel Crunch
- Box Cutter
- Squirm
- The W
- Superman
- Low Flutter
- Freddy Mercury
COT and BOM!
THE NATIVE AMERICAN MOLESKIN:
- The Trail of Tears is a horrific piece of American history. Much respect of our Native American people groups and their culture. So many beautiful things we can learn from them.
- Good work today men. No props, no printed instructions, no cadence – no problem.
- Not really sure about the details concerning the inappropriate touching between @Gump and @Chavez. However, it seems like the following sentence should be restated for clarification. THIS IS NOT THAT KIND OF MEN’S GROUP!
- Always great when a member of the PAX receives a name and posts at the next boot camp. Keep showing up @Retread!
- Remember @Bromance’s niece, Olivia, and her father as they both have some medical concerns.
- T-claps to those who stayed around for a little something extra to fulfill their Ab Challenge requirements.
Always an honor to lead the PAX!
