The Strangest Things in the Upside Down

All Comanche Backblasts

March 21st, 2019 By Ace Ventura

5 PAX joined me on a Spring morning at 44 degrees and a little moisture. We welcomed a guest in our house this AM, Lutefrisk, from a galaxy far far away. Good that everyone showed up otherwise he’d think we were a sad AO…. Unbeknownst to most, the Comanche have a portal into the Upside Down. If you’ve never watched Stranger Things, or don’t like it, ignore this and don’t judge. If you have or do, have a chuckle. YHC decided to expand on a discovery @RobinsNest made a while ago when he Q’d a beatdown and decided to go up a hill we’ve never been to that ended up being a decent workout area. This hill is a little steeper, so given the PAX rally to compete participate in the upcoming Savage Blitz on May 19th (come join us men if you haven’t signed up!!), YHC figured this to be an excellent training ground. It went something like this…

After some chatter about our guest having come with a brother who fell asleep in his van, short disclaimer was given with an extended start…
Mosey around the loop to the flagpoles and balance beam step your way on the 4x4s to the fence. Use the curb to side step on your toes and keep your balance. Use the fence only if absolutely necessary to keep balance. The Savage will offer many balancing acts you need to get used to. Halfway down the fence, transition to over / under using the fence opening to crawl “under” the middle cross beam to the grass, then at the fence post, climb over. We quickly found out two things:
First, that fence is for decoration only with posts teetering every time you touch it.
Second, Buckwheat can’t fit between the cross beams.
Continue to the end of the road in some sorry fashion. Mosey to warm up.

WARM-O-RAMA
Windmill X 15…Q – Lutefrisk, is that your van? We could rock it to wake up your buddy.
SSH X 15…Lutefrisk – Yes it’s my wife’s.
Cotton Pickers X 15…10 & 2 – Do you actually think someone’s in there?
Stationary Lunges X 10…April Fool’s
Burpees X 5

Appreciate 10 & 2 and Buckwheat assisting with reading the weinke.

THE THANG
Mosey for some cinder blocks, partner up and grab a block per pair, then off to the base of the Upside Down.

1. Partner 1 Al Gore while Partner 2 Quadraphilias up the hill with block doing bicep curl.
2. At top of hill, Partner 2 calls out to Partner 1 to begin. Partner 2 does Block Burpees until Partner 1 gets to them.
3. Partner 1, after the call out, army crawl up the hill.
4. Once both are at top of hill, Partner 1 grabs the block and reverse Bears and Blocks down the hill.
5. Partner 2 runs out of the Upside Down along Cox Mill (to left of trees, safety first) to bus entrance, then down the entrance back to start. We found out there are a few holes and dips on the way. Good note for the future.
6. First partner to reach start planks it up. Once both partners are there, switch positions and repeato.

4 cycles fit the timeframe. Mosey to return the blocks then back to the parking lot for some Mary.

Meantime, mumblechatter on the Q’s unique ability to recall a complex beatdown yet need a weinke to remember the warm-o-rama and mary.
