Run in the rain with an old friend…
All East Charlotte BackblastsFebruary 20th, 2019
Tuesdays are Mint Hill’s standard run/ruck day. No “Slack Channel” post needed, no “GroupMe”, no smoke signals…just show up! So, on this rainy Tuesday gloom YHC just “showed up” at around 0450am. I waited, with the heat on in the truck because it was a little chilly, waited in the gloom for another Pax to post. Will one come? There was no chatter on social media last night but there shouldn’t need be. Hmmm. Will I be running by myself or taking my sorry a$$ to another AO this morning to post by 0530?
Wait…is that…??? Yes, a white truck…blinker is on…turning…into the park…it’s my old friend…HEAD AND SHOULDERS!! My run buddy is here!! Out of the truck into the drizzle we went for our 5.5 mi jaunt around the Hill. We decided to “mix it up” a bit as the same old/same old runs are getting a little monotonous. Look for some route changes in the up and coming weeks.
See our route below

Great discussion ensued as we kept a pretty good pace during the run. Fast enough to work the legs and lungs but not too fast that we couldn’t talk.
Why didn’t anyone else post today? Was it the rain? Fartsack get the best of you? All I know, it is not easy to hear the alarm at 0430, especially when raining. But I post anyway because I am accountable to my other Pax. Brothers, the fartsack hold is strong but we don’t get better and improve ourselves if we give in. To become stronger and a better #HIM we need to rise up and hold ourselves accountable…to each other.
With that said, if any brother out there is feeling like a sad clown and needs someone to talk to, know that H&S and I are always there for you. There is no better therapy than hashing out what ails you during a run. There are others in our AO that are also good listeners and can lend their support. Use us! We are here for each other, AYE!

H&S and I will be developing some alternative run routes in the future. We would love to have multiple groups and speeds out with us on future Tuesdays.
