Splish-Splash Run
All East Charlotte BackblastsJanuary 24th, 2019
On Wednesday the night before at 4:28pm it all started with a post on “group-me”. Yes, “group-me”. What is “group-me” you say? Well, in my opinion, (watch it now, much sarcasm coming your way) it is a much inferior way to communicate the T/Th run intentions of the F3 Mint Hill Running Club. Why don’t they just post on Slack so that everyone, even non-runners, can see the comedic interactions of the group and maybe get inspired to want to actually join the group one day and build up their 2nd F component of the run? Maybe another Pax from another Slack channel could voyeur our conversation and say, “hey, those guys seem cool, I’d like to run with that Mint Hill Group one day.” Hmmm, you have a good point, one I’ve been trying to make for months, to no avail. Please pray for me, no, for the group, that it happens before I die 🙂
As for the run, we met at the Gravel lot by the Vet at 0500. It was raining pretty hard when we got there and we all had discussions of going back home. But as you know, “Iron Sharpens Iron” #isi, we sucked it up, pulled up our panties, and began our mosey down the usual route. Not fast, a lot slower than our usual pace which would have been welcoming for any newcomer.
Along the way the rain slowed to a drizzle where it actually felt nice, air temp were warm (60 degrees) and we had some good conversation along the way. All of us having freshman boys in college we discussed…..
1. Fraternities,
2. Drugs/alcohol,
3. Roomates, and
4. Spring break
5. We also talked about “I fall down” but you gotta show to know that one
Just as we got back to the Gravel lot the rain cranked up, we all “fist-bumped”, ran into our cars and headed home.
Let me end this by saying that I really did NOT want to come out today and run. The weather sucked, I was tired, and although it was 60 degrees out the wind was whipping which made it seem cold. However, if it weren’t for Clover and H&S holding me accountable, I probably would have fartsacked. Thank you men for posting today and holding all of us up to a higher standard.
