Earning My Shirt…

All Afton Backblasts

November 21st, 2018 By Hop Hunter

YHC has done a lot of running over the last few months and not spent as much time at the Afton AO as hoped since the launch.  Some of my brothers have chose to remind YHC of that fact quite often.  The heckling has recently reached that point that YHC was informed “by some” Pax that YHC should not be wearing his Afton gear in public.. “that YHC had not earned it”.  They have all ignored and dismissed the fact that YHC has Q’d prior to the official launch (#selectivememory).  Being that the Charlotte marathon is now in the rear view, YHC was excited to take the Q for today’s beat down and let it be know that YHC had officially earned his shirts.  Looking for inspiration on my much anticipated (not really) return, YHC thought back to Monday’s 1st Official Afton cruise and the very wise 4-Wide’s fondness of the steps by the YMCA.  YHC also remember how much the Pax seemed to like running up the hill behind the QT.  With all that in mind, YHC hatched a plan for an AO exploration beatdown.  6 strong Pax gathered to find out what exploration we had before us.  There were a few attempted hijackings of the Q along the way, but YHC was able to maintain control of the situation.  It went something like…

Warm-a-rama

Warm up on this cool morning was spread out along our journey to the Stairway to Heaven.
Pax first moseyed to a nice clearing in the park for 20 SSHs IC.
Followed by another mosey to the Afton bridge for 10 Windmills IC & 10 Hillbillies IC
Followed by another mosey to the Y Parking lot for 10 CP IC, 10 MC IC & 10 Merkins IC
and on to the thang…

The Thang

The mosey stopped across from the main Y entrance at the nice long stairs or as some might say … The Stairway to Heaven.

Since we didn’t ever make it to heaven it was time to mosey over to the Wine Room for another stop on the AO tour.  The Pax learned that the Wine Room could present a challenge during step ups to those that are vertically challenged.  Some of the Pax found a kiddie wall, but we won’t call them by name (4-Wide, Hokie Pokie)

It was too early for much wine, so time to roll on.  Next stop on the tour was the QT Hill.  YHC saw a lot of potential in this hill during our recent cruises, so it was time to test it out.  Little did YHC know that some of the Pax would attempt to hijack the Q at this point.  We had to call an audible and go with Bear Crawl due to time on this tour. We will be back for some Burpee Broad Jumps when YHC plans his time better.

Time was getting tight at this point, so YHC lead a mosey back to toward home base.  More hijacking was attempted during the mosey, but nothing this Q couldn’t handle.  Pax finally made it back to the shelter to wrap up the tour de Afton just in time for a quick Mary
