Harrisburg Celebrates the end of the NASCAR Season
All Harrisburg BackblastsNovember 20th, 2018
Harrisburg sure knows how to make a guest Q feel welcome. 16 pax flooded into the parking lot although I’m not sure if they were there because they knew I was Qing, were big NASCAR fans, were trying to make themselves feel better about how much they were going to eat and not exercise over Thanksiging, or were just bored at 5:30. Whatever the reason it was great to have a strong showing. And more importantly it was good to see that everyone in tights was wearing appropriate shorts over top after some discussion on Slack on Monday #Noonewantstoseethat
Since the NASCAR season wrapped up on Sunday and Harrisburg is home to the White Lightning workout at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord (go ahead and try to figure that geography out) YHC decided it’d be a good theme for the workout. Congratulations to Joey Logano the 2018 “Winston” Cup Champion. I think by the end of the workout everyone was glad Logano won and not Truex (22 vs. 78 reps…)
Mosey to front of school for warm o rama:
SSH x 22 IC
Mountain Climbers x 22 IC
Plank Jacks x 22 IC
Mosey to Hill by practice field, wait no not that hill, let’s use the hill by the tennis courts, thanks for the audible. Also Google Maps doesn’t show how dark it is at 5:30.
7-1 Ladder: Burpees at the top, WWII’s at the bottom, Quadraphelia up the hill
(Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, and Jimmie Johnson have won a record 7 Championships each)
Mosey to Tennis Courts for Suicides:
Sideline: Burpees x 4 (Kevin Harvick is #4 and was one of the 4 finalists)
Far side of first court: Squats x 18 (Kyle Busch is #78 and was one of the finalists)
Far side of second court: Freddie Mercury’s x 78 Single Count (Martin Truex Jr. is #78 and was one of the finalists) There was some discussion of this being half reps – Solo Cup you’re welcome to do 78 Freddie Mercury’s IC but I can’t promise I’ll wait for you.
Far side of third court: Merkins x 22 (Joey Logano is #22)
Do sideline exercises, Run to first court exercise, run back to sideline exercise, run to first court exercise, run to second court exercise, run back to sideline, etc.
Mosey to Bleachers by Baseball Stadium
24 to 2 Ladder (by 2’s): Step-ups (single count) and Dips (my favorite driver Jeff Gordon was #24). The counting was pretty hard on this one, even the Q managed to mess it up and was going by 4’s on the step-ups instead of 2’s.
No time to celebrate NASCAR’s 70th season…
Mosey to Parking Lot for Mary:
Crunchy Frog x 11 IC
Mason Twist x 11 IC (11 + 11 = 22 Joey Logano)
Flutter Kicks x 24 IC (24 for my favorite driver again, Jeff Gordon)
Squat Circle of Pain

Great to have so many come out this morning hopefully you got your moneys worth. Thanks also for letting me guest Q, it’s been fun getting around to all the different locations as part of the passport challenge and meeting new guys and catching up with guys I haven’t seen in a while. And thanks for the mumble chatter, sometimes the workouts get too quiet so I’m glad to have some chatter and insults to break it up.
I ran with the Speed for Need team in the Santa Scramble this weekend. It’s the 2nd Speed for Need event I’ve been a small part of and it’s had a huge impact on me. The sister of John, one of the Track Commanders and friend of Hooties, told us thank you before the race and said this is John’s favorite day of the year. It blew me away. This probably wasn’t even going to be the highlight of my day, for me it was just a 5K and a long parade. But now knowing I could in a small way help him and his family have one of their favorite days made it so much more than that. I just wanted to share what it’s meant to me to run with Speed for Need and why I’ll be supporting it as much as I can in the future.

Great lead Chicken Strip. I dipped to failure on that last part. Just the way a workout should be.
