Head Lamps or no Head Lamps, that is the question!
All The Valley BackblastsNovember 3rd, 2018
5 PAX started a nice cool cruise on this perfect fall morning. The debate on whether to wear head lamp gear started 10 hours before launch around the bonfire at Gentle Grizzly’s as Brutus began to question the hour in which the run would occur Vs. the stated sunrise time….. Hot Wheels take, clear skies, moon lit, no Head Lamp needed. Brutus take, a cruise launching 1.75 hours before dark and on the green way, the Head Lamps is a required piece of equipment. Grizzly, Osceola concurring with Brutus Heads lamps are in. So of course Brutus posted with no Head Lamps and Hot Wheels with a head lamp. Also posting with head lamps were Sparknut and Pleasure…..
Pleasure getting a late start met up with us at the Dunkin Donuts and joined the cruise and helped pick up the pace.
Back to the head lamp thing, after hitting the green-way, the wild card here was vast amount of leaves down on the ground masking the marked path and blending nicely with the natural terrain. A recipe for disaster…. Dun, Dun, Dun….. Those of us with them on offered guidance around corners bridges and tight spots for those us who did not, providing safe passage for all travelers, until…..
Upon exit of the green way, we were all startled by the sound of a human body hitting the ground and the unmistakable sound it creates when all the air stored in the lungs and breathing tubes of a man exits in a nano second..MANDOWN MANDOWN MANDOWN you guessed it, Brutus went down, missing the edge of the green-way and rolling his ankle, his only words “this one is gonna hurt”
With help of the PAX, he rises up, limps a short way, Hot Wheels, lays hands on Brutus calling on our healer and provider Jesus to do an immediate work on the ankle. HE answered that prayer in true miracle form, Brutus instantly took off an resumed his 8 minute pace leaving the rest of us in wonder. BEAST, that’s all i can say. BEAST.
A pleasant 4.87 miles route winding us through Prosperity Church Road, Mallard Creek Road and onto the green way to the end and back through he Wellington and Winchester subdivisions.
FNG Paul came out to run, thinking he is going stick with F3, he was named “Flash” after his favorite comic book character.
Prayer for Spark nut leading and guiding his and 6 kids well.

Great Run, thanks for the fellowship and laughter!
Amen. I love a good story! Haha. I have a little foot egg and some road rash to prove it.
