Holdin’ off Flo
All The Valley BackblastsSeptember 15th, 2018
YHC had spent the previous evening getting his mind right and preparing himself to run 7+ miles in an absolute downpour as Hurricane Florence had made landfall that day. In usual F3 fashion, lots of yapping and carrying on (mostly from yours truly) about playing in the rain would be for naught, as nothing more than a mist would fall during our Saturday stroll. With a disclaimer given we took off for the first route.
0530ish. The Farm took off in a different direction with the M (but would join us for the 2nd leg.) Dingo was believed to be with us, but unbeknownst to the rest of the PAX, he joined The Farm. Always fun for the rabbits to circle back for the six only to realize the six isn’t there #extramileage #bluefalcon. This route was loosely inspired by the incoming Flo as it represented the letter F on GPS. This apparently was not mentally digested by the PAX when YHC had posted the route the night before, as he was met with bewilderment when he brought it up (helpful pic below.) Up Prosperity Church, right on Johnston Oehler, go a ways, turn around retrace route back to Tradition with detour into Neighborhood for small part of the “F”. Didn’t realize the small part of the F was a nasty little hill, won’t forget it next time. Endex back at Tradition with 4-5 miles under the belt.

0615ish. 2nd disclaimer as the group has grown for the 2nd leg. Down Prosperity Church to Traders Joe’s, left into neighborhood, left at dead end, left again out of neighborhood back up to Mallard Creek Church/Prosperity Church Rd, Endex at Tradition. 4ish miles. Good run. Poor attempts at EHing YHC into a full marathon, instead of a half, were made. Better attempts at EHing runners into a GoRuck event were also made. 4ish miles.
A few guys ran a bit before our early run and quite a bit after our second. Dang, Laser ran 21+ miles in all, awesome! Anvil and The Farm tallied over 11 miles. 4-9 miles for the rest of us.

COT: Prayers to all who are in Hurricane Florence’s path. National Service Day at Christian Brother’s Automotive 10/13 – free oil changes and general work for single moms and widows, need volunteers and customers.
Moleskin:
- Great job today gentlemen! We like to give each other a hard time sometimes during our cruises/beatdowns, but the fact is, you can’t give a guy a hard time in the gloom, if he is still in the fartsack. This was an easy one to no show with the potential conditions, but y’all didn’t, well done.
- I think I have determined that each successive longer run on these Saturdays constitutes the new “longest run I have ever done.” Thanks for being out there with me brothers. It was a pleasure to lead today.
- Some of y’all aren’t messing around with your miles. Looking for a quick COT. By all means, don’t let F3 get in the way of your miles, ha!
Be safe everyone and look to help out anyone in your community in need.
