Highlands Last Call Combine
All Comanche BackblastsSeptember 1st, 2018
Many more vehicles than expected arrived to Mallard Creek Park on the first day of September. The #preblast tweet may have increased the numbers. A shovel flag was planted, courtesy of Comanche via @RobinsNest and appropriate disclaimer was given. Mosey to the middle parking lot area (apparently faster than desired, due to resulting #mumblechatter).
WARMARAMA:
Side Straddle Hops x 30
Imperial Storm Troopers x 10
Mountain Climbers x 30
Merkins x 10
YHC proudly shares Lake Norman Charter beat Community School of Davidson 30-10 last night, hence the rep count. (#LNCPride)
Everyone finds a spot for line jumps, 30 seconds of feet together, right foot, and left foot.
Mosey to the tennis courts.
THE THANG:
YHC welcomes everyone to the Highlands Last Call Combine. Each February, the top college football players participate in the NFL Scouting Combine and engage in measurable strength and agility drills. Here was our version:
40-yard Dash: Sprint across three tennis courts (each court is 36 feet, plus space between courts is approximately 12 feet = 132 feet, which is actually close to 44 yards). 10 Merkins following each sprint. Six Sets.
Broad Jump: Broad jump consecutively across one tennis court. 10 Carolina Dry-Docks after completing court. Six Sets
Vertical Jump: 10 Jump Squats. Six Sets
Bench Press: Partner up for Weighted Partner Merkins. Partner #1 planks with feet on Partner #2’s back. Partner #2 completes set of 10. Switch. Four sets.
Shuttle Run: Utilizing three courts and both sides, straddle the center line, sprint to one sideline, sprint to opposite sideline, return to center line, five diamond Merkins. Six sets
The combine concludes and we mosey to the high school entrance. Rejoining partner for additional combination exercises. Combined 100 dips split between the pair, with other partner completing Balls-to-the-Wall (or Glass, for some). Repeated with Wall-sits and 100 Monkey Humpers.
Slow mosey back to the original parking lot for MARY.

THE MOLESKIN
- I was dragging tail when my alarm went off this morning, believe it or not. The larger than expected crowd definitely pumped me up! Again, as I shared during the prayer, thanks for dealing with an overly-enthusiastic Q this morning.
- Shameless point of pride: Last night, this happened: Wells Fargo Champ
- The one measureable drill omitted was the Three-Cone Drill. I had the cones with me, but had to bypass due to our numbers.
- Comanche is the move Labor Day Monday, 7 AM. 1450 Cox Mill Road, Concord. (Cox Mill High School)
- @Chowder shared a ton of info about Hit the Brixx. There is info on Slack and the ME-CA Email.
Hope you all enjoyed it today.

P.S. Thank you to @KleanUp for the subtle push yesterday for me to take the lead today.
Also, the tennis instructor on court 1 asked me if we were “Charlotte Firemen.” I quickly advised him we were not, but rather F3, “Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith…peer-led workout group.” I’ll take him mistaking us as a fire department as a compliment…when’s our calendar being produced?
Well done this morning @Powerball.
