Let’s all get high today!
All Highlands BackblastsAugust 21st, 2018
Twelve men showed up to HCES this morning to face yet another disastrous beatdown. In honor of the recent 27th annual Hempfest held in Seattle this weekend (Don’t believe me? Here’s the link http://www.hempfest.org/events/seattle-hempfest-festival-august-17-18-19/ ) YHC invited the PAX to come get high with him. After the usual thorough disclaimer we were off on a quick mosey over to the golf course parking lot for…
WARMARAMA
- SSH IC X 19
- IST IC X 17
- CP IC X 15
- MC IC X 15 (lost count here, quickly called out by @Pavarotti)
- Merkins IC X 11
THE THANG
Mosey over to Skyline Drive for the main event. The PAX was instructed to run up and over the big hill, stopping at each of the four cul-de-sacs for a set of exercises as follows:
- 10 Burpees at the bottom
- 20 Merkins at cul-de-sac one (actually not a cul-de-sac but a real road)
- 30 Lunges (15 per leg) at cul-de-sac two
- 40 Squats at cul-de-sac three
- 50 LBC at cul-de-sac four
- Run back down to the bottom and do it all again
- Repeato X 3
- 10 muscle ups on the wall at the bottom of the hill while we wait for the six
- 30 low flutters while we wait for the six
- 30 reverse crunch while we wait for the six
Mosey back up Highland Creek Parkway and through the rabbit hole to the main parking lot
MARY
- Box Cutter IC X 13 (there’s the missing thirteen count @Pavarotti)
- The ‘W’ IC X 13 (there it is again now stop nagging me)
COT and BOM
MOLESKIN
- Good job today by the PAX. It was really humid out there. Our local weatherman @Pony Boy informed us that it won’t let up until sometime in November. It’s getting darker in the mornings as well, which led me to abandon my original plan of utilizing the driving range hill.
- Skyline Drive is really tall. The top of it is much higher than the bottom, hence the backblast title. I know it’s bit of a reach but YHC was never much of a smoker. Hopefully @Dime Bag wasn’t too disappointed when he found out the truth.
- There was a surprising lack of mumble chatter today considering (1) @Gump was there and (2) everyone seems to hate Skyline Drive. We didn’t manage to wake any of the neighbors up until around 6:05 when we were leaving. No sign of @Next Door today either.
- Be on the lookout for information on the Speed for Need event coming to the Brixx 5K on 9/15/2018. We are trying to get a good showing from MECA this year. Additional info will be available on Slack and in the daily email. @Man Down is the Q for this event.
- The Lake Norman Basin Run Relay will be held on November 3 and teams are (slowly) starting to form. Be on the lookout for more information.
- The Highlands Sign Up Genius is completely empty going forward. Please sign up if you haven’t been the ‘Q’ in a while. One appearance per month is all we need from you. This is a volunteer effort and it doesn’t work unless you sign up. We may be having a ‘fill-up-the-sign-up-genius event’ on Thursday if we don’t get some volunteers soon. I have the clipboard ready (@Nanny approved)
- Thanks to everyone who posted today. It is always an honor to serve with you men. Iron sharpens iron!

Great stuff today, Disaster. I hated it, but loved it. Thanks for leading.
