Burpee Lay-up Lines

All Highlands Backblasts

August 2nd, 2018 By Alcatraz

VQ began to get nervous as 5:27am turned to 5:28am and no one had shown up yet, thinking it was some sort of hazing ritual; but, in the end 9 showed up for some wet summer league practice. After the disclaimer with help from the group to make sure all liabilities were covered, PAX mosey’d to the back of the middle school for:

Warm-Up

Followed by mosey to the back parking lot and

The Thang

Pax counted off into 3 teams of 3

Round Robin Regular Season

Competing groups start at far side of parking lot

Team members not going alternate squats and muhammad alis

Team member who is going

-runs to first cone x3 burpees

-runs to second cone x2 burpees

-runs to last cone x1 burpee

-picks up basketball at last cone, completes layup, replaces basketball and sprints back to team

Each team member goes twice and once done planks

Team with all members planking first wins

Non-competing group runs from cone to far end of parking lot and back, once back to the cone planks as long as possible then WW2 sit ups

The regular season saw a sweep by the team of Pavoratti, Sully, and Klean Up, who entered the championship game with a 2-0 record and a rest before

Playoffs

Shift cones closer to starting line

Teams compete again except with bear crawls to the first second and third cone and only one round per team member

Non-competing teams do same set from the regular season

The heavy underdogs, Greek, #1, and Hugo, were able to pull of the huge upset in the championship game to take home the Burpee O’Brien Championship Trophy. Pav, Sully, and Klean Up managed to escape with a 2nd place finish.

Mosy back to starting location.

Announcements/Moleskin:

  1. Highlands hosts Red Friday tomorrow August 3rd.
  2. Convergence this Saturday for the F3 Afton official launch at 7 AM. There will be no workout at Mallard Creek Park

Thank you for everyone’s patience with the VQ. I really enjoy this group and was excited to try and give back to it this morning. I was warned by Disaster that the patience wears off after your first go-round so I will be even sharper next time around.

  1. Sorry I missed your VQ @DimeBag. But thank you for stepping up and leading!

  2. Solid and fun beat down @Dime Bag. Where do I protest the fan interference?

  3. Congrats on your VQ, @DimeBag. Sorry I missed it, as well, especially with the basketball incorporation.

  4. Great lead @DimeBag- it was fun, creative and a good workout despite my lack of affinity for basketball. That’s okay, football season is coming. Go Dawgs.

  5. Great VQ @DimeBag even though we did start 2 minutes late. Especially like the use of props and a theme. Just disappointed @Gump and @Chowder did not attend to provide their encouragement. I need to work on layups, too much time chasing misses doomed our team. @Greek agree about the football season coming but Go Gators (right @Kleanup?)!

    1. Are we going to have to hear all about the Dawgs now that they woken from their 3 decade slumber?

      1. We all know it won’t last long.

        1. Florida hasn’t been relevant since Spurrier left- that would be three decades ago. Also, Gators wear jean shorts.
