Can the PAX count to 3?
All Highlands BackblastsJune 21st, 2018
With the official onset of summer today and temperatures in the 90’s this week it was impressive to see 17 of MECA’s finest out for a Brinkley beatdown. There was some discussion about what kind of balls would be involved in today’s activities so YHC did not want to disappoint. After the disclaimer we started with a slow mosey up to the bus parking lot with high knees, butt kicks and Stoli skips along the way before circling up for…
WARMARAMA
- SSH x15
- Hill Billies x15
- Mountain Climber x15
- Cotton Picker x15
- Low Slow Squat x15
- Windmill x15
THE THANG
After Warmarama the PAX was asked to count off by 3’s to divide them into groups. This proved to be beyond their ability so we started again and got into groups of 4. Each group was given a tennis ball and instructions were given for the circuit. One person from each group would start by throwing the tennis ball into the green hopper by the playground. Based on the number where the ball came out (1-4) the group would run to the designated location and complete exercises as follows:
- 1 (guardrail on Shelly Ave) – 20 Dips, 20 Incline Merkins
- 2 (picnic tables down the road between the Elementary School and the Learning Cottages) – 20 Step Ups, 20 CDD’s
- 3 (Alcove on the far side of the parking lot) – 20 Merkins, 20 Lunges
- 4 (Playground next to the green hopper) – 10 Pull Ups, 20 Squats
- Penalty – If the hopper was missed the group would do 5 burpees before shooting again
The four groups continued this cycle until time was called. Props were gathered and we mosey’d back to the start point with optional shrub jumping for Mary.
MARY
- Hello Dolly x15
- Pretzel Crunch with flapjack x15
- Freddy Mercury x15
- Mason Twist x15
- Brinkley Bend x15
BOM & COT
MOLESKIN:
- Good effort by the PAX today. Was easy at first then we all lathered up with the running and exercises. Humid out there.
- Speed on Friday. Numbers have been increasing for this.
- Some question about the naming of FNG Graham – Triple Beam. Other names were considered but presented issues for a Youth Minister who might be asked what his F3 name is.
- F3 Dads Superhero Saturday 9 AM at Rolling Stone – WR Odell Primary School. Water balloons will be involved which is a great idea given the temperature. https://f3-meca.com/2018/04/10/f3-dads-superhero-saturday/
- Depression is a real issue for many people and this has led to an increase in the number of suicides which has been brought to light with the recent deaths of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. Suicide rates increased by 25% across the United States over nearly two decades ending in 2016, according to research published earlier this month by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Getting others involved in F3 is a great way to prevent this by giving those struggling with depression support and making them feel less isolated.

I got depressed by my inability to throw a stupid tennis ball into a simple green hopper. Apparently I need a few drinks to stop overthinking the throw. Otherwise it was a great beatdown today @Brinkley. I always enjoy this one. The smaller groups led to some excellent mumblechatter as well. It was nice to see some of the new guys posting today.
Hey…I was 2-2 on my attempts. No consequential burpees for my group. You’re welcome.
I feel the need to be a bit more aggressive on the backblasts now.
I guess you were well rested after skipping Tuesday’s beatdown.
MORE SHADE THROWN.
For the record, as previously stated, Tuesday included the gym and Whitewater Center, but I get it…have the harass the educator during the summer.
