Welcome to the 1000…. um, the 1030 rep challenge
All Comanche BackblastsFebruary 10th, 2018
Twelve men braved an ominous weather forecast and a dubious marketing campaign and showed up at Mallard Creek Community Park today for another disastrous beatdown. YHC had an alternate plan in place for the heavy rain showers that were predicted but other than the wet pavement the conditions were ideal. After a quick disclaimer the PAX was off for a fifty foot warmup mosey followed by….
WARMARAMA
- SSH IC X 10 (Gump’s favorite)
- IST IC X 10
- CP IC X 10
- MC IC X 10
- Merkins IC X 10
THE THANG
The PAX was pleased to hear that there would be minimal amounts of running today. The PAX was less pleased to hear that the extra time would be spent completing the 1000 Rep Challenge. Here’s how it went down. The PAX circled up and took turns leading the group through the following exercise cycle:
- 10 burpees (on your own)
- 15 lunges
- 20 merkins
- 25 squats
- 30 abdominals (captain’s choice)
- run to the next island and back
The PAX completed ten full sets, which should have given us 1000 reps, but @Powerball got a little carried away and called a full cadence on his ab workout instead of single cadence so we ended up with 1030. The group finished at 756 AM so we took an extended run around 4-5 islands to celebrate our goal.
MARY
- We just finished 330 ab exercises in an hour. I think that’s plenty for one day.

MOLESKIN
- This beatdown was originally @Alcatraz’s idea and was passed along on the Highlands slack page on a recent snow day. I thought it would be fun to try as a group. Of course @Alcatraz didn’t bother to show up since he already knew how horrible it was. The good news is that he still posted at Mint Hill with an FNG that he EH’d.
- I shared the details of this beatdown at #Speed yesterday. Needless to say, none of them showed up today either.
- The PAX was surprisingly creative today, even with the merkins, squats, and lunges, so it didn’t get too monotonous. I was worried that we would struggle to come up with ten different ab exercises but the PAX came through and didn’t even have to visit the low flutter, low dolly, box cutter, or Homer to Marge. Well done men.
- It was great to see @Hammer back with us on a Saturday. He has done a great job getting #Comanche off of the ground this past year. #Kotter
- Working in a group without a lot of running always leads to some great mumble chatter, especially with @Gump in the mix. Today’s highlight was when @Duffel Bag finally realized that @Snip was the same doctor who gave him a very personal “snip” about four years ago. I think it was during a set of the Crunchy Frog, which is ironic because it is the same position @Snip usually finds himself in anyway, just without the stirrups.
- There was some interesting cadence out there today, and not just from @Glock either. @ONJ proved that his cadence is MUCH faster than his actual reps. And @Duffel Bag shared a special cadence from down south. And I don’t mean Alabama.
- Thanks to everyone who posted today. It is always an honor to lead you men.

Enjoyed today’s 1000 rep challenge. My apologies for the overambitious cadence for my core set, but if I hadn’t, we would potentially had an extra minute of running at the end. You’re welcome.
The #mumblechatter humor was on-point today. The laughing helps us forget the pain struggle.
See you gentlemen in the Gloom.
Sorry I missed it. #NotReally
