Twelve men, including one with a ruck on his back, showed up in warmer-than-yesterday temperatures at Highland Creek Elementary School this morning for yet another disastrous beatdown. After the PAX finished trying to gauge the weather based on @The Nanny’s clothing ensemble and we verified which one was @Eggnog and which one was @Buffalo Bill, there was a quick disclaimer followed by a mosey up to the back parking lot that included a rather lengthy backwards run up the hill.

THE THANG

Today’s Q dusted off “an old favorite” today in the Dropcloth 500 (TM), a difficult beatdown that we haven’t seen since last August. @Alcatraz was nice enough to point out that it wasn’t “an old favorite” after all and that nobody really enjoyed it. Too late to change now. I spent a lot of time taping that weinke onto the step stool. Here’s how it went down.

The PAX works their way through a set of seven cumulative exercises, with a “big boy” lap around the parking lot between each set. The “big boy” lap includes all four corners of the bus lot, a little more than twice the size of the traditional Dropcloth 200 lap, so roughly 500 meters (or 550 yards for you non-Europeans). The exercise sets are as follows:

• 10 burpees
• 20 lunges (single leg)
• 30 merkins
• 40 squats
• 50 LBC
• 60 Rocky Balboas
• 70 Freddy Mercury

The exercises could be completed in any order, so the PAX quickly learned to mix and match as needed to balance out the pain. On the last lap I did 25 LBC, 15 merkins, 25 LBC, 15 merkins, 20 squats, 5 burpees, 20 squats, 5 burpees, 20 lunges, then the Rocky’s and the Freddy’s. #TClaps to @Buffalo Bill for teaching me the patented roll over technique between the LBC and the merkins that reduces the number of times you actually have to stand up (#lazy). The PAX was extremely strong today and several men were able to finish all seven laps before time was called (mercifully) at 612AM. @Brinkley was the top finisher today, followed closely by @Glock and @Buffalo BIll.

1. There was some kind of puberty display going on with the cadence during Warmarama today. A lot of high pitched/low pitched counting coming from @Alcatraz’s general direction. I think it might have been some sort of test to see if the Q could keep count during distracting circumstances so I hope I passed.
2. @Brinkley grabbed the lead from @Glock at some point between laps four and five and never looked back. I don’t think he realized that I was only joking about offering a growler of beer to today’s winner. Well done anyway #fast.
3. #TClaps to @Barrister who competed in today’s race wearing his ruck sack. I got tired just writing this sentence. He appeared to take the “modify as needed” part of the disclaimer pretty seriously.
4. Welcome back to old friend @Ranger who has been posting at #Comanche over the past year. Sorry you picked such a crappy beatdown to come back to.
5. Don’t forget that Red Friday will be held at #Kannon tomorrow morning at 530AM. We will also be holding #Speed at the Highlands at the same time if you don’t want to drive 30 minutes up the road.
6. Looking forward to seeing what @The Nanny has in store for us next Tuesday. I’m guessing it will involve a lot of running but you have to show to know.
