The Real Reward

All Boondocks Backblasts

January 4th, 2018 By Baby Face

“All that I do and suffer is but the way to the reward, and not the deserving thereof.” – W. Tyndale
Working out in 20 degree weather …is that “suffering”? Compared to more dramatic forms of suffering (especially involuntary versions of suffering) it certainly appears to be anything but. However, though you may desire to select a word other than “suffering”, the principle of suffering as striving toward real reward is LEGIT!
So here’s what we did this A.M. – – – >
Warm-up lap (though at the conclusion of this lap we did not feel remarkably warmer. So we performed some SSH (x20 IC), followed by 5 burpees (OYO) [we did 5 burpees after every exercise throughout the COP], followed by Imperial Walkers (x20 IC), followed by Merkins (x20 IC), followed by Monkey Humpers (x20 IC).
:::
Then we did “4 CORNERS.” Corner#1=20 Merkin; Corner#2=20 Dips; Corner#3=20 RussianTwists; Corner#4=20 AirSquats …in between each the exerciser must report to the middle region for 10 Sumo Jump Squats.
:::
Run to the back of the bldg, and stare at the hill. Quad-droe-phil-E-ah 7’s style (burpees @ bottom; Sumo Jump Squats @ top).
:::
People’s chair w/ 50 Air Presses, followed by 30 M.NiteClubs.
:::
Mosey to track for four laps, with merkins, russian twists, knee-ups in between.
:::
Sue-Pine station. Reg. = 10; Goofy = 10.
:::
Mary & Done
Moleskine
Brian Doyle says that stories are everywhere, but you have to stop and patiently attend to them. You can’t pull them up on your phone, and you cannot have them quickly or ‘on your terms.’ Stories are – at least subversive and all around us all the time. They are in the air. Brian says, “Maybe we guzzle forty stories with every breath we draw and they soak into us and flavor and thicken and spice the wild stew we are.”

  1. Good lead, Babyface! I approve of the five burpee warmup, forgive you for the short distance to the dips, and think the supine chin ups were swell.

    Nice to see @High Chair out there with us today. Like to see some more Mint Hill pax make it this way from time to time.
