7 for 7
All Highlands BackblastsJanuary 2nd, 2018
It was cold. It was dark. Arctic Blast 2018 had descended upon the region, but the baddest men Highland’s had to offer beat beat back Old Man Winter. 7 degrees at launch and 7 men strong. With the disclaimer given and a full moon to light the way, we were off.
Mosey through the rabbit hole, along HC Pkwy. Hang a left on Shelly Ave and then another left entering the back of the elementary school bus lot where it was still 7 degrees.
Warmarama:
- SSH, Windmill, Merkins, Cotton Picker, Mountain Climber IC x 15
The Thang (still 7 degrees and really cold):
- A fresh delivery of cinder blocks couldn’t go to waste so why not each grab one and try to make the 7 degrees feel like 12?
- Rotation of overhead press, curls, dips, block squats and block swings x 25 each then a lap through the portable classroom walkway, down to the utility light and back, twice through.
- Mixed in some core work of block presses with raised feet, WWII sit-ups, low flutter x 25 (and maybe something else but can’t remember. Did I mention it was cold, very very cold?).
- Another round of overhead press, curls, dips, block squats and block swings x 25 each then a lap through the portable classroom walkway, down to the utility light and back.
- Return blocks to their resting (hiding) place.
- Mosey back to launch point along the same path from whence we came; out the back of the school bus lot, up Shelley Ave, hang a right on HC Pkwy and back though the rabbit hole.
Mary:
- It was really cold so we opted for some Mason Twist IC x 25 and called it a morning
The really, very cold moleskin:
- Thanks men for joining me this morning in the tundra. When I saw we were Q-less via Sign Up Genius last night, I decided to find out what 7 degrees at 5:30 am felt like. For the record – it felt really, really cold.
- There is a fresh inventory of cinder blocks behind the last elementary portable classroom. 20 of our newest friends just waiting to be included in our morning routines. To all – use them before we lose them. Hopefully this batch will stay around a little longer than the last. For those that missed out this morning, the blocks definitely felt heavier than the last batch. #beenawhilewithoutblocks
- Did I mention it was 7 degrees?
- Enjoyed it men – hope you did as well!

@kleanup the addition of cinder blocks to your beatdown today only validates that my decision to #smartsack was a good one. I am more than happy to admit that I am not one of the baddest men that Highlands has to offer, and most of the PAX would probably agree with me. Thanks for stepping up to ‘Q’ in less than ideal weather conditions.
All good @Disaster. If you were there it would have felt like a spring day in April.
Scientists have learned that sarcasm is one of the leading contributors to global warming. Who knew?
