Seven for “Sevens”

All The Precinct Backblasts

December 28th, 2017 By Buckwheat

7 cold weather loving prisoners showed up for warden Buckwheat’s prison escape/apprehension beatdown.

After fooling the Pax into thinking this would be primarily a prison yard strength beatdown, YHC decided on one of two options.  My first thought was to do a Grinder on Avon Farms, but that sounded too miserable when I woke up this morning.  I decided to take plan B, which was to allow the prisoners to escape through intake for “sevens” before apprehending them and bringing them back to the prison yard to do some “hard time.”

Here’s how things went down.  @Man Down showed up early to unlock the tires and blocks.  Thanks, brother!  @Ghetto D walked up as we were getting back to intake from putting blocks/tires out.  This gave YHC me partial wood.  @Ghetto D got a little excited when YHC humped the ground err rolled out my quads with the good old foam roller. #Mumblechatter ensued.

@Skipper and @Brutus, who were texting about posting yesterday, were no where to be seen at 0530.  Five of us got rolling with a short mosey around the outside of intake.  We picked up @Brutus on the way back to intake and @Skipper was exiting his vehicle as we got ready to start warm-o-rama:

Time for half of the main event err Thang:

Mosey to intake exit for instructions.  Prisoners were allowed to leave intake for supervised rec time which consisted of running hills with a few exercises thrown in.  in between.  Specifically, we paired up similar fitness levels with one group of three (all rabbits).  Each pair split up and ran opposite directions to their disclosed destination.  Partner 1 goes down Saxonbury Way to Dusty Cedar Court with a 1-6 ladder of reverse crunches at that intersection.  Partner 2 goes up Raddington Lane and into the cul-de-sac for a 6-1 ladder of jump squats.  Run back to the edge of the intake lot and meet your partner for 7 partner hand slap merkins.  One unruly prisoner asked he if could slap @Hot Wheels in the face when doing this.  The request was approved by the Warden, but inmate @Trail Mix didn’t follow through.  The rep count between the two ladder stations was always seven (i.e. 1 reverse crunch & 6 jump squats, so on and so forth) while running up and down these short hills in between.  We did seven handslap merkins each time when rendezvousing with your partner.  In total, 1.75ish miles of sucking in cold air.

Once we completed this medley, all inmates were required to report to the prison yard.  Oddly, they were excited to return to prison as escaping really wasn’t all that fun.  Fortunately, YHC didn’t have to use my gun that shoots rubber pellets to get them back in line.

Once we got out on the yard, partner one did tire flips the length width of both tennis courts.  That served as the timer for partner two who did AMRAP cinderblock chest presses.  Once that was complete, swap roles and repeato the sequence.  Round two involved a tire carry which totally confused one inmate (@Skipper) who clearly hadn’t had his hooch yet this morning.  The other partner did AMRAP shoulder presses during the tire carry.  Swap positions and repeato.  Round three involved a tire flip burpee combo the width of one tennis court for partner one while partner two did AMRAP bent rows or lawnmower pulls.  Swap and repeato.

@Ghetto D gave us a 10 count and then a brief MARY ensued.

Cold/Tired Moleskin:

  1. Thanks for having me this morning, men.  It was great to visit The Precinct again and pleasure to lead.  Love your AO!
  2. Thanks for arriving early to unlock the instruments of pain @Man Down.
  3. @Skipper @Man Down & @Brutus crushed “sevens.”   #Jackrabbits
  4. @Hot Wheels and @Trail Mix got after it as well.
  5. @Ghetto D managed to knock it out while staving off an asthma attack.  Running hills in the cold is absolutely horrible, but you’ll be better for it.
  6. We lifted up El Toro and his family in prayer following the passing of his father.
  7. MeCa regional winter party is 1/27/18.  M’s and significant others are invited.  Mark your calendars!

  1. Great beatdown and backblast @Buckwheat! Despite the chilly temps, you kept us warm. Though I still think @Brutus and @Mandown are nuts for posting in shorts. #under40rule4me
    #ahoy

  2. Thanks Buckwheat…good “keep warm” workout. Sorry I was tardy, unscheduled biological activity, not sorry I missed the earlier events with you and Ghetto D though. 🙂
