This Beatdown was Gump-tastic!
All Highlands BackblastsDecember 14th, 2017
Fourteen men showed up at Highland Creek Elementary School this morning to celebrate the legend that is @Gump. Even @Gump himself showed up which was surprising in itself. After a quick disclaimer the PAX was off across the parking lot using a combination of forwards runs, backwards runs, and karaoke.
WARMARAMA
- You can’t celebrate @Gump unless you don’t do the side straddle hops
- Not doing SSH IC X 6
- IST IC X 13
- CP IC X 13
- MC IC X 13
- Merkins IC X 13
THE THANG
We haven’t done @Gump’s standard beatdown since the convergence in May so it was time to dust it off for a repeat. As always it is a lot harder in real life than it looks on paper.
- Indian Run across the back parking lot to the guard rails on Shelley Avenue
- Dips, Inclined Merkins, Declined Merkins IC single count X 15. Repeato
- Indian Run up Shelley Avenue to the field on the corner across from the fire station
- Joe Webb IC 1 to 10 ladder. Merkins and Air Presses. These are just like the Jack Webb except you have to stand up after the merkins instead of kneeling.
- Cack-a-Lack-a-Choo-Choo on the sidewalk along Ridge Road. Two full sets.
- Indian Run down Ridge Road and around the corner onto Street Street
- Pause for a set of Low Flutters while we wait for the six
- Mosey down Street Street to the hills by the baseball fields
- 8 to 1 ladder with Jump Squats at the top and LBC at the bottom
- Mosey down Street Street to the stop sign
- Webb Joe IC 10 to 1 ladder. Merkins and Air Presses
- Mosey down the dark haunted road and across the parking lot towards the Middle School
- Spider Man Merkins up the steps, followed by a quick loop around the parking lot. PAX does air squats while waiting for their turn.
- Mosey back to the main parking lot for Mary
MARY
- Pretzel Crunch IC X 13, Flapjack.
- Box Cutter IC X 13
- The W IC X 13

MOLESKIN
- Despite our goal of honoring @Gump today there was a conspicuous absence of Gump Jumps, cheating, shenanigans, and overall mumble chatter by the rest of the PAX. Even @Gump himself was pretty quiet out there. Maybe we’re all getting too old for that stuff.
- Inquiring minds want to know. Jack Webb played Sergeant Joe Friday on TV’s ‘Dragnet’ from 1952 to 1959 and again from 1967 to 1970. Joe Webb is a journeyman quarterback who played for the Panthers from 2014 to 2016 and is currently playing for the Bills. No explanation what the connection is between Jack, Joe, and a whole bunch of merkins and air presses.
- Word to the wise. If you are coming off a two week F3 absence due to illness don’t try to jump right back into the ‘Q’ even if there is a vacancy on the Sign Up Genius. I was really struggling out there this morning, especially with all the running. Thanks to the PAX for not mocking my limited performance on the merkins today, especially the Spider Man Merkins.
- Don’t forget Red Friday tomorrow. 530AM at HCES. @Skipper is the ‘Q’. Wear something red.
- Also, we are still collecting toys for ‘Operation Sweet Tooth’. @Pony Boy will be available tomorrow and Saturday if you have something you can bring. Details are in the daily email.
- There are still plenty of openings to ‘Q’ in the Sign Up Genius. This is your chance if you haven’t stepped up in a while. Remember that if I can do it, anyone can.
- Thanks to everyone who posted this morning. It is always an honor to lead you men.

It was nice to get out in the weekday Gloom. @Disaster, the early Dips, Inclined Merkins, Declined Merkins IC painstation hit hard. That’s a good thing.
