- The Speed for Need event in Concord was a huge success. Hootie and his Spider classmates from Concord HS class of ’96 pushed classmate John Fulghum, who has severe brain injuries, through the Santa Scramble 5K course. John’s family was very appreciative of the support shown for John. Many MeCa Pax also accompanied the entourage along the route. F3 won the $1000 prize for the largest team registered in the race, and Hootie’s classmates raised about $1300 from T-shirt sales. The proceeds will be donated to Speed for Need and to Hinds Feet Farm in Davidson (provides ongoing support for persons with brain injuries).
