Merkins Beatdown
All Rolling Stone BackblastsOctober 26th, 2017
Today was my first boot-camp Q, thanks to everyone for making this a fun enjoyable experience. Did you see the size of the crowd? It was so many people, the largest group ever LOL.
I started the workout with a disclaimer “I do not know the F3 exercise names”, so I had to be creative and focus on the few exercises that I could remember.
For warm ups we did the following:
- side straddle hops
- Side to Side jump
- The Windmill
- Mosey to the football field.
Main Workout:
Remember my disclaimer, “I do not know the F3 exercise names”, so I decided on taking advantage of the Merkin, and do different variation of it on each corner of the track. It was easy to remember, why not…
First Exercise:
- Diamonds Merkin in cadence X 10
- Bear Crawl to the next corner of the track.
- Wide Grip Merkins in cadence X 10
- Mosey to the next corner
- Spiderman Merkins X 10
- Burpee Broad Jump to the next corner.
- Side to Side Merkins X 10
- Reverse Mosey to the starting corner. @Sparknut ran over the bench on the way back, I think the bench is regretting this encounter.
Second Exercise:
Everyone loved the Merkins from the first exercise, we had to do it over again, this time we had to tell @Sparknut not to run over the bench.
This time everyone doing the counting on their own, and we increased the merkins count to 20.
Third Exercise:
- We partnered up, one partner had to do 10 Decline Merkins against the bench, while the other partner did the mountain climber. We did 2 sets of this.
- Mosey back to the elementary school.
Fourth Exercise:
We had to partner up again, and just when we thought we were done with the merkins, the Incline Merkin was patiently waiting for us.
- We had to partner up again, this time one partner doing 15 Incline Merkins while the other partner did Squat Jumps. We did 3 sets of this.
Finally, we attempted to finish off with Mary, we failed miserably:
- I had to throw in there the inchworm Merkin X 10
- Then I made a mistake of asking @Sparknut to do the counting for the Jack Knife, he was counting slow, making it more intense than what I was anticipating.
Whatley saved the group by cutting the workout short. He was not up for any more Markins, so we had to mix in school construction project volunteering in to the mix. It was a good cause, and to be honest I was ready for the workout to finish.

Well done WB! Solid Q & solid beatdown. Looking forward to more of them. Need to find out why no PAX are listed, but we got a back blast, baby steps:)
Thanks Heatstroke. I entered the pax, myself I am puzzled why they are not listed. I can try again and update just to see…
K, the PAX is updated now… weird it didn’t take it in the first time. Thanks for pointing this out.
You bet, nicely done
Solid Q!
Wormburner’s voice cuts through the gloom clearly and the idea of running around the track in stations was great. Kept everything organized.
Thank you Kilowatt, I positive appreciate the feedback.
Outstanding beat down. I loved the merkin variations! Way to smoke the pecks.
Thank you Sparknut.
