Moleskin:
Thirteen hearty Pax defeated the fartsack and gathered on a humid, 70 degree, morning at Coal Train for an unusual Wednesday morning beatdown. In a never ending attempt to provide variety in our exercise diet, the Concord Pax experienced a new venue, Webb Field, and were treated to a small bit of Concord history.
The Preblast picture of a sprinting Jesse Owens provided a clue to the nature of today’s workout and the Q appreciated the Pax indulging. The workout was intended to simulate a few sprinting exhibitions from Olympic champion Jesse Owens’ barnstorming tour to Concord in 1937 at Webb Field. A 16 yr. old Ed Barrier, Q’s father, attended the exhibition that day and was lucky enough to race against the world’s fastest man, which he said was one of the greatest thrills of his life.
Thanks for going along with Q’s lame attempt to simulate the horse race and the baseball relay race. Not sure if we’ll ever do that again but it was still fun I hope! According to some, today’s workout was a relief compared to Phidip’s epic beatdown yesterday!
Thanks to all who provided an audible at Mary and I hope I didn’t leave anyone out. Thanks also for your continuing prayers and thoughts for son, James. It’s a blessing to have such a wonderful support group. The whole Barrier family appreciates all of you!
Please remember Catfish’s wife, Deborah, as she recovers from shoulder surgery, and friend of Anvil’s who tragically died of an overdose.
Thanks again for a great workout and allowing me to lead today!
