All All MECA BackblastsMay 1st, 2017
Monday, May 1st, 72 degrees, breezy, and cloudy. 10 PAX made it out of the fartsack and into the gloom for a nice little stroll around the hills of Skybrook. A preblast was dished out last night on the social medias with the projected route: Skywalker Track & Trail. We rolled out of the parking lot at 5:30, then rolled back in at 5:31 to pick up @Churchill. With all 10 men together, we headed up Linksland, entered Jack’s Trail, and then landed at the Skybrook Track.
First order of business: get acquainted with the track.
- 1 lap slow mosey (be aware of the roots)
- 1 lap AYG sprint
- 1 lap recovery mosey
Next:
- 1 lap, stopping at each of the 4 benches for 10 dips and 10 WW3 situps (made up name on the fly).
Last lap:
- Partner up and run opposite directions. 10 hand shake merkins the first time you meet and 10 pat-a-cake situps the second time you meet.
6:05- time to head back. Run up the trail and hop on the golf course for a straight shot back to the parking lot. Wring the sweat out of your headlamp band and call it a day. RECOVER!

- “ROOTS!” was the word of the day. Seems to have worked too because we had no casualties (that I know of). Even @Dodger was able to stay upright all morning.
- According to the all knowing Garmin watch, we covered 3.8 miles. Strava data here. Great job, PAX! I know there were some personal records happening out there today. I’m seeing all of you get faster and faster.
- Good luck to all the time laps runners this weekend. If you aren’t running, plan to bring the family to the white water center Saturday afternoon for some fellowship and to cheer on the runners as they finish up around 5pm. Hang around afterward for River Jam!
- ISO: Q for the bootcamp on Friday. Sign up here.
- Highland 5 year anniversary beatdown is this Thursday at 5:30. Be there!
Deep thoughts:
Remember that you cannot control the the bad things that life may throw your way but you can control the way that your react to them. Overcome your obstacles with a level head and learn from them. Let’s make it a great day because after all, the choice is ours.
